Re: UFC 98: Evans vs. Machida
"1. Boxing: Oscar De La Hoya vs. Manny Pacquiao, Dec. 6, 1,250,000
2. UFC: Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Couture, Nov. 15, 1,010,000"
Wow, that's closer than I thought it would be (Oscar attracts a bunch of fans)... MMA is definitely catching up. Plus, considering how many events they have, to have 7 of the Top 10 events for 2008 is pretty impressive. Definitely can see the tables turning in terms of overall revenue in the next few years... MMA is definitely on the rise while boxing is kind of falling out of the mainstream consciousness.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

In all fairness, Boxing only had 2 major PPVs last year while the UFC had 14. Those 2 PPV's were in the top 10.Comment

Re: UFC 98: Evans vs. Machida
Yeah, I guess MMA basically owns the other PPV events (WWE, etc.) more than anything. Being able to get 7/10 is still pretty impressive and definitely a good sign for the sport. If they put more matches on regular TV and saved the really special matchups for PPV, they'd probably see numbers more similar to boxing on those events. Even for dedicated fans, it's a tough pill to swallow to pay $50 that many times a year for UFC events...
Yay, internet.
And Brock was a coup of a signing for the UFC apparently... got all the WWE crossover fans to buy the PPVs.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: UFC 98: Evans vs. Machida
"3. Wrestling: WrestleMania, Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Paul "Big Show" Wight, March 30, 670,000"
I think they got the main event wrong.
The cable company people said I didn't have to pay for it because the entire Krstyoff and most of the Matt fight were so messed up. Also said they raised the price on this specific one because of the main event they were expecting more buys.Comment

Re: UFC 98: Evans vs. Machida
The UFC has a new fan here.
I was in Vegas and had a chance to check out UFC 98 in person. I didn't know who any of the fighters were but had a great time. The crowd went crazy when Evans got knocked out by Machida.
Inside MGM, it seemed like a UFC Undisputed commerical was on after every match.
I wish every fighter had their own entrance video and original theme song.Comment
