Who said it's perfect? Yes it could use some work in a lot of areas yet complaining about a finished product seems pointless to me..I guess theirs always next year..oh wait thats unacceptable to you..I guess we are at a crossroads.

Re: After looking at the IGN video, the create a fighter....
I'm concerned about the create-a-fighter as well. Having preset sliders and limited customability is a concern because I want my fighter to be unique. It may be fine that you don't care and consider it fluff and I respect that - but respect the fact that I want a very in depth and customizable CAF. I enjoying making characters - I want to make a fighter that looks just like me, and I'd also love to make fighters from other organizations like Fedor, Shinya Aoki, Sakuraba, etc.
From the videos that have been showcased it looks as though THQ has given us a very limited palatte from which to create. In a generation where many other games have given us insane amounts of control in terms of customizing our look and appearance, it isn't too much to ask that this game do the same. It's keeping up with the Jones' in a sense.
This is also a game, and if there are short comings in certain aspects then it brings the whole package down. I do hope the core of the game is great (and it does look promising) but at the same time if there are a lot of short comings in other areas like single player, online, clipping issues or the like then those inconsistencies begin to stand out and take away from the rest of the game.
i'm looking for great gameplay AND an in-depth create-a-fighter. I'll be sad if they deliver a sub-par CAF that isn't on the same level as their core gameplay.- Imdahman

But to be fair if this game had a far out blow the doors off CAF why would we buy it next year? or the next I don't like it either but you can bet your *** THQ has to save something for next year and beyond to keep people coming back and to keep EA away. Sadly year four will probably be everything we want in an MMA game.I'm concerned about the create-a-fighter as well. And my apologies if I gave the impression I don't think CAF is important, because I do, but I also think that we can't expect everything from a first time effort from THQ or any game maker for that matter. Things start slow then get better with time which helps yearly sales which sucks for us.Something had to suffer let's just hope the CAF aspect is the only severe thing lacking, I will wait for a finished product before judging it too severely though.Comment

Personally for next year I'd add more submissions from each positionBut to be fair if this game had a far out blow the doors off CAF why would we buy it next year? or the next I don't like it either but you can bet your *** THQ has to save something for next year and beyond to keep people coming back and to keep EA away. As a guy who trains in MMA I'm offended that I've only got one (or 2 in some cases) option to tap my guy out from each position, lol.
I had an idea where you could click the stick then flick in a direction for a submission next year. That way you could fit in 4 submission from each position (if it's viable). I love the ground game, its fantastic but there's definitely more that can be added and I'm sure it'll happen next year.
I'm okay with the ground game because already it's very in depth. Perhaps what bothers me the most about the CAF as it stands right now is that it seems VERY limited - if it had some more depth to it then I could do what I'm doing with the ground game: Love it but realize there's potential for more.- Imdahman

Re: After looking at the IGN video, the create a fighter....
I think the point here is that there's still a few questions with this game. Some of us, myself included, might be jumping the gun a bit in terms of our expectations for this game. Despite how awesome the demo was/is, it CAF blows, career mode blows, and online is full of nothing but button mashers, it's at least possible that this game will ultimately disappoint. Not trying to get all Debbie Downer here, I'm just saying we might want to relax a little bit here with all the GOTY talk and whatnot.I am become death
Do not underestimate my apathy

Might be wise to wait to judge an element of the game until we actually see that particular element of the game. Going off a single impression doesn't seem like the best idea.Comment

My point exactly, there are many things to gripe about this game however i just choose one thats dear to me and i get the "shut up, its too late, like it or dont buy it, (even though i only mentioned one thing) everything cant be perfect, its the first game".Comment

Wont dissapoint me. The game has 80-85% of the fighters I would want in a game so CAF isnt that important to me. 90% if Couture and Guida are DLC. Thats better than FN4 imo. If career mode sucks, I will just play exhibition games and online. I'm not worried about button mashers because I dont play randoms. Problems solved for me.Comment

Same feelings here. But my percentages are higher. 90% happy now with the fighters. Would be 100% happy with Guida alone. Favorite fighter.

Re: After looking at the IGN video, the create a fighter....
ok, i understand my concern may not be everyones, but I still want to fight with a decent Sakuraba or Mark Hunt, hell i may even want to create Bob Sapp if only to watch him come out in a rage, gas and crash.Comment

Re: After looking at the IGN video, the create a fighter....
I understand your point. I just think that expectations are a little high for a first time title. I came into this game realizing that there were going to be some things missing. No fighter walkups, No cage interaction while fighting and a limited CAF are a little dissapointing but they had to miss something. I can see THQ thinking that it is more important to focus on gameplay and the 90 fighters they have in the game then a CAF for people to add fighters outside of the UFC.
Also, I dont know any similar game (Old UFC games, Pride, Smackdown, Fight Night) that had a robust CAF in the first edition of the series.Comment

Re: After looking at the IGN video, the create a fighter....
All understandable points, i expected flaws, the ones you named along with the inability to bob or weave, the submission system, or the inability to check kicks that somehow effect stamina but have no eventual 'dead leg' effect are all things i digested w/o so much as a peep. I just expected more from this area because THQ has experience with this type of feature and knows its importance. Im still buying the game however, best MMA game yet. Heres to hoping the fighters feel ( kicking and punching style) as different as they lookI understand your point. I just think that expectations are a little high for a first time title.
