Preview & Review: UFC FN 119
Good fights on the undercard so far. Interesting pair of DC and John Gooden on commentary, it's good.
The fights on the main card are particularly even. I would suggest hedging any picks.
Prelims:
Dos Santos gets dropped with a 1 2 but came back with knees almost finishing Griffin at the end of round 1. Griffin drops Dos Santos again with a left right. Dos Santos goes to the body R3.
Dos Santos > Griffin via Decision 29-28; FOTN contender
Diaz is overwhelmed in the grappling. Gordan applies post and delivers shots. Diaz goes for trip but gets grounded into guard. Diaz goes for an armbar to end the fight.
Gordan > Diaz via Decision 30-26
Gordan is the first foreigner to win on this card.
Carlos Júnior out aggressive establishing the jab, Marshman adjusting when Carlos Júnior lands a TD into Mount. Carlos Júnior obtains back and secures a rear naked choke in R1.
Carlos Júnior > Marshman via R1SUB- RNC
Luque drops Price with a body shot and follow up to the head then proceeds to secure a submission.
Luque > Price via R2SUB: D'arce choke.

Re: MMA Off-Topic
Yh but he just can't get it there and Colby's wrestling is just to good for him to get a td in the center of the octagon. I figured Colby would take this approach though...it's just smart and Maia is a one trick pony.Comment

Re: MMA Off-Topic
Maia was striking more than I expected. Covington probably won that. He has a wrestling base and gave the fight people were expecting from Masvidal.Comment

Re: MMA Off-Topic
Yup. Pretty much what I expected if he won. Same thing Woodley did. Maia screwed himself early though by getting in a firefight in the 1st and gassing. I'll say this though...if Colby thinks he's about to be champ at WW with striking like that, I feel sorry for him when he faces guys that are good strikers with good td defense. Guys like Thompson, Lawler, Till, ect would eat him alive on the feet...hell even Maia was tagging him up until he gassed. He's trying to talk his way to a title shot, but I doubt UFC will be having that. He'll have to have a few more fights i'm sure.Comment
