Re: OS MMA Random Thread
Rousimar Palhares still has a problem with holding on to submissions after the guy taps.

You can just skip to 1:30 to where the submission is going to start if you don't want to see the entire fight.Comment

Re: OS MMA Random Thread
I feel like that footage is sped up a tad bit. When I was watching it in real time I felt like he held it a bit long, but nothing malicious. I definitely noticed that he did not release it immediately.Comment

Re: OS MMA Random Thread
I watched it also and he held it for a long time after the tap. It was ~3 seconds after the tap and he never let go. The ref took about 1 second to get there. Then he still wasn't letting go and the ref actually pulled his arms apart. He was looking at the heel for some reason, like he was doing it on purpose so he could say he didn't see him tap or the ref.Comment

Re: OS MMA Random Thread
Why? Didn't he go on a little run recently?

I think the biggest thing is he was making a ton of money, isnt an exciting fighter and hasnt had a convincing/exciting win in the UFC.Comment

Re: OS MMA Random Thread
Don't worry guys, WSOF will snatch him up most likely. I must say I'm disappointed that he didn't live up to the hype. I remember years ago when he came into the UFC, people hyped him up, saying he is a beast, he beat Dan Henderson, he going to whip GSP butt, etc.
Nope.....
Reality is, he is a guy who wins on points and haven't finished anybody since 2009 when he submitted Robbie Lawler.
His last TKO victory was 2007 and over all he only has 3 TKO victories in his entire 15 year career. Most of his victories are by decision.Comment

1. Apparently Rampage is getting into the MMA promotion business. He has a card May 10th in Cali called Conquest Fighting Championship.
2. Melvin Guillard has signed with WSOF.

Anything with a Diaz brother is a good read. Here is younger brother Nate Diaz ranting about his pay and the UFC under paying fighters. And that the ring girls. Bruce Buffer and Joe Rogan gets paid more then him.

Re: OS MMA Random Thread
I actually believe most of what Nate says and I think that if it's true then that's some real B.S.
Usually I'd say "a contract is a contract" but Nate has stepped up for this company and put on a number of great shows. He is a draw. He brings the fight against anyone.
They should take care of Nate.Comment

Regarding some of his complaints, he makes 60k/60k which is well above most LWs in the UFC. Only Henderson, Pettis, Sanchez and Melendez make more than him in the division. He's just heated because Gil just hit the jackpot when he signed his new deal. Pettis and Henderson are champs. Sanchez is the only one he could even partially complain about but Sanchez only makes about 10k more than him.
Salary negotiations are about leverage. He couldve done what Gil did a while back in threaten to sign with Bellator. He didnt. He couldve won the belt off Ben and increased his pay. He didnt. He's getting paid what the market at the time he signed the deal set and thats on him.Comment

Re: OS MMA Random Thread
Considering Nate is a guy that has won a lot of bonuses as well, where the **** is he going to go? He isn't a draw. He isn't going to get more $$$ anywhere else unless Viacom wants to make a (bad) decision and drastically overpay, which doesn't matter since he's in a contract with the UFC still.Cincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals

Re: OS MMA Random Thread
True, he's not technically a draw. I meant he's a draw because of his style. Fan friendly, in your face, not running style. In the technical sense you're right, he hasn't headlined PPV's but he's headlined a number of cards.
The Miller v Diaz card had a gate of $1,100,000. Is that not good?
Where did you get those contract numbers by the way?
If only Bendo, Pettis, Sanchez and Melendez are getting paid more then he doesn't have a real case. Where did you find their contracts?Comment
