Good. **** Bjorn Rebney. Dude was a slimy POS. I wonder if they will make their contracts more open ended now where guys like Alvarez aren't stuck in Bellator for longer than they want to be. Coker is a pushover, but he did a good job with Strikeforce (even if he overpaid guys). If that brawl between Mayhem & Shields/Nick & Nate Diaz/Melendez didn't happen on CBS and cost them that spot basically I wonder if they would have survived longer...

Am I the only one surprised to hear this? Was this something that we knew was coming? Didn't Bjorn start Bellator from the ground up"Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Roger that.
I wonder how much money he ended up making from his initial investment.
I wonder what the actual differences in opinion were between him and Viacom."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: OS MMA Random Thread
Rebney probably didn't agree with the direction Viacom was taking. At the same time,he should have seen it coming.Comment

Re: OS MMA Random Thread
So it appears that Viacom approached Chael Sonnen about becoming Bellator's president before Coker. He refused to sign a confidentiality agreement so the talks went nowhere.Comment

Re: OS MMA Random Thread
I was listening to Luke Thomas' weekly chat and he went over his perspective on the whole Rebney thing. It was pretty informative for me as I really haven't paid close to attention to Bellator other than watching their big fights when I can.
The thing that stuck out to me most was that (at least according to Thomas) Viacom wasn't happy with the tournament setup limiting matchmaking options and they also weren't happy with the quality of the cards. Thomas pointed out that Bellator did something like 26 shows (I think that was the number) last year and that number is way too high considering their roster. He basically said that cards that are, more or less, headlined by bouts featuring guys like James Thompson or Phil Baroni aren't good enough to compete with the UFC and Viacom is only in the business to match the UFC one day.
Anyway, I am naive when it comes to business and I just found the whole thing kind of fascinating.
The Chael thing intrigues me as well. That would have been very different than Franklin running a company over in Japan, wouldn't it? I wonder what the relationship would have been like between Chael and Dana/UFC in the future."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Chael wouldve been taking Bjorn position with the UFC's biggest competitor and with the backing of a corporation (Viacom) that Dana hates. ****, Randy Couture is banned from the UFC just because he did a reality show with Bellator. Chael wouldve disappeared from the UFC.Comment

Re: OS MMA Random Thread
He will probably actually compete. Barnett and Dean Lister will also be in the fight, along with Vinny Margahles or however you spell his last name.Comment

Re: OS MMA Random Thread
I saw Barnett was on there, but I'm wondering how. Is he not under contract with the UFC? They don't let their fighters do this stuff.Comment

Re: OS MMA Random Thread
I remember Bendo doing a Jiu-Jitsu tourney while under a UFC contract. And Nick Diaz was scheduled to do one against Estima even though he no-showed. I'm assuming that they let their guys do these or maybe there are just exceptions.Comment

Re: OS MMA Random Thread
He will actually compete and get subbed in 35 seconds. Galvao is about 20 levels higher than Chael is BJJ wise.Cincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals
