Re: One thing that worries me about the game
I honestly don't care if it is short a few things. For a first year entry it has ALOT of great stuff already. Imagine what they could build on with another year. Cage work, Online built in leagues, full create a fighter options, more advanced submission system, etc etc.
I mean the foundation is now set. Just adding all the extras in the future releases is all that needs to be done. But I am extremely impressed with what they got in.Comment

Re: One thing that worries me about the game
Exactly -- if the fundamental parts of the game play well (as it seems based on the demo), then all this extra stuff would be reasonably easy to add for future installments... especially the online features. And who knows, maybe if they get a big reception to the game they'll add some additional online features via patch...Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: One thing that worries me about the game
I like that most of our concerns at this time are minor things that can be improved in future editions. We're not talking about how so and so is broken or that THQ dropped the ball with this series. I know this game isn't going to be perfect but I expect it to be very enjoyable.Comment

Re: One thing that worries me about the game
I still can't believe that 99% of the impressions in the demo thread are positive... I honestly can't ever remember that happening here before. There was that one guy who came in and said "OVERRATED" or something, but no real substantive negative comments showed up the entire time aside from worries about subs being too difficult. That speaks volumes about what THQ accomplished with this game...
I'm sure the retail will get picked on a bit more (especially by hardcore MMA devotees who notice more issues than casual fans like me), but if the demo was any indication, it will be a very well-received game here.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

This is the big complaints
- Not enough create a fighter sliders and options
- Submissions not having a "flash submission system"
- Fighters not fighting like themselves
First the CAF is a let down to a degree but i would MUCH MUCH rather them perfect the gameplay before they add a 1000 hair options, because those hair options mean NOTHING if the gameplay sucks and you not playing the game.
Submissions CAN be done VERY early, some people just have not wanted to learn the game enough. It has a learning curve.
Fighting styles, people don't even have the game in their hands yet complaining about this. I mean do you watch the real UFC, ALOT of styles fight the same. i mean they might have their own sig stance, movement, etc but most of their FIGHTING STYLE is similar. For instace who would of thought we would see Chris Leben move into a more jiu jitsu style in the last couple fights. I mean the cat was going for triangles, footstomps, headkicks, body kicks, leg kicks, etc etc. Fighters now have to have a range of skills that most have also, just the top of the classes are BETTER at their own style, ex. Anderson Silva - Maui Thai.
I am sick of the guys over there lack of respect of what THQ has done with the game. For a first release it has a ton of great thigns to build off of.Comment

Re: One thing that worries me about the game
Here at OS it is much more level headed posts. Over at the UFC 2009 undisputed main forum it is a mad house with nothing but complaints about the smallish crap. Really annoying so i stay away from their board.

Re: One thing that worries me about the game
Again, there are quick subs against the CPU -- I've gotten plenty of first round subs (one as early as 1:20ish) on Advanced and a handful on Expert. If you look at MMA, there truly aren't many submissions that you could classify as "flash subs" -- most come after a guy is worn down or they've been struggling on the ground for a while. Even things like that crazy flying triangle in that video came later in the fight after both guys were banged-up...
There are some legit concerns about the game, but the more I play and understand it, the less I feel a need for "flash subs". If you get familiar with what drains their stamina the most and can exercise some patience, you can submit the CPU early, even on higher levels.
Truly, how many first round submissions happen in the UFC? Is there somewhere that has that info?Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: One thing that worries me about the game
I'm sure submissions are great agasint another human, but i think the complaint is about playing the cpu and i think it is pretty valid. Because there are flash KOs , but there just isn't flass submissions when you're playing agasint the cpu. That needs to be improved ...hopefully they can patch it for this year's edition.Comment

Re: One thing that worries me about the game
Yeah I too can get subs in the 1st round on expert on a regular basis now. It is all about timing and countering. Got to know what subs work well in certain situations.
As far as in the UFC goes, not too many "flash" subs happen in real life. Usually only happen when the opponent makes a mistake and gets countered.
For example: People shooting in and get caught in a guilotine. Or a person in guard leave their arm in and get caught in a triangle or an armbar.Comment

Re: One thing that worries me about the game
definitely the foundation is set and this is a great game to build upon. I don't really play alot of games, only Madden and Tiger. I'm a huge MMA fan and to see this game come out of the gate like this is really exciting....now and also for things to come. unbelievable with the limitations on the demo that I have still put tons of enjoyable hours into it...Comment

Re: One thing that worries me about the game
I am pretty sure some of the reason for the early release of the demo is to get a idea of some of the issues. So I am pretty certain you can see THQ release a patch not long after release. I am sure they been tweaking that area since it is across the board the most obvious issue.
You really think these guys are working to improve this game at this point? Undisputed is going to fly off the shelves, so there really is no reason to release patches to fix issues that can be added to next years game.
How many patches did THQ release for their wrestling games? I honestly have no idea.Comment

Re: One thing that worries me about the game
Frank Mir 7 sub wins, all 7 in the first round
Big Nog 20 sub wins,10 in the first round
Saku 17 sub wins, only 3 in the first round
Alistair Overeem 17 sub wins,11 in the first round with 4 unknowns (it says first round but not if it was past 5 minutes)
Pat Miletich,18 sub wins,9 in the first round
*First round counting only the first 5 minutes where rounds are more than 5 minutes.
So I'd say the range is 45-55%Comment
