Re: Official UFC Undisputed 2009 Impressions
Agreed...
Midnight release on a work night... yay ...
Let me come in after store hours (around 8pm) the night before release to pick it up. Now that would make me happy and more likely to reserve games in the future... Gamestop could also save on payroll hours... <o></o>

Re: Official UFC Undisputed 2009 Impressions
it could be a fluke though since each fighter doesn't fight the same even against the same fighter each time. That's why the outcomes are so different. I had a 5 round unanamous decision against rich franklin defending my title, even though the time before I knocked him out easily. This time he was way more aggressive and smothering me, not giving me space.
ya u're right, not every fight Rua tried to take me down the whole time, but after playing agasint him maybe 1000 times the past month, his general strategy was pretty clear. Don't exchange blows , get Liddell to the ground.Comment

Re: Official UFC Undisputed 2009 Impressions
Will the novice MMA fans still enjoy this game? I have heard a lot of names to moves and references to styles and I don't know any of it. The demo played great, but I feel at such a disadvantage by not knowing more about each fighter. Is there a strategy guide that will give me the bios of each fighter?Work Hard...Pay Bills...Work Hard...Pay BillsComment

I admit,I don't know much about the UFC and I still find myself having a hard time getting into it. With that said, after reading the impressions that some have posted here,I'm stoked for this game.Comment

Depends on who you fight with and who you fight against. If you fight strikers, it will be nothing more than throwing punches and kicks. If you fight someone how knows how to take you down and knows submissions, you will get manhandled.Comment

Re: Official UFC Undisputed 2009 Impressions
I wanted to see if it was easier to submit the CPU in the retail version and I think it is. I probably played the demo over 100 times and was never able to submit Chuck on Advanced (I know its pathetic). So I took Florian against the lowest rated LW (Bocek) and was able to submit him by rear naked choke in the 2nd. I took Leites and beat Kampmann with a kimora.
Liddell Sub Def 72
Florian Sub Off 80
Bocek Sub Def 64
Leites Sub Off 92
Kampmann Sub Def 70Comment

Plus, there's a great practice mode. You can have your sparring partner do nothing, block just strikes, block just takedowns, only grapple, only strike, go all out, etc. It's a very nice way to learn. You can practice with guys with different styles, bring up the action list from the pause menu, and see what they all can do.
So the game does a good job of teaching you about the basics of the sport if you want to learn.
If you're concerned about learning the fighters, looking at their ratings in the game will give you a good idea what they're like. Strong strike offense but low strike defense? Throw punches, but don't get into brawls. High takedown offense and high ground striking offense? Get the takedown and try and keep the guy down and pound him out.
If you're more concerned about the styles, like if you're a wrestler with poor submission defense fighting a jiu-jitsu fighter with good submission offense, how do you control the fight? That's kind of like a mystery to unravel, and its one of the best things about the sport.
As long as you don't expect to be the best in the world and you have even a moderate willingness to learn, there's a lot of fun to be had with the game, even if you're starting from scratch.Comment

Re: Official UFC Undisputed 2009 Impressions
I just don't see how rua would want to fight differently w/ his stats no matter who he's fighting. The best test would be st pierre imo. fighting him w/ a jitsu ace vs a crazy boxer - that would change how he fights because he's much more balanced. Or maybe he'd just mix it up no matter who the opponent is. I might try that, but I hate seeing him lose lol.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment
