Re: Official UFC Undisputed 2009 Impressions
Now that I'm done career I'm going off on it.
What the hell were they thinking? This mode makes the game WORSE,seriously I'd take at least .5 off. I'm not even sure where to start on this.
I guess the begining would be CAF,ya know, cause you can't pick a real UFC fighter.
This sucks. Face stuff isn't bad but I should be able to have decent shorts. I made my last guy from the UK and wanted him to have blue trunks...they didn't even have blue! Oh and the interface on this thing is just awful. Why aren't all the fighting out ofs = to the hometown? Why don't they say the names? They say the AI names and we get stuck with about 10 nicknames? I understand the no aging thing, aging only works if we get infinte points for normal CAF wich we should actually. Then there's the height and weight limitations. Not so bad with the smaller classes but if you're a HW you're stuck at 235 wich appears to be one of the lightest weights there.
Then you get your first fight. It may not appear to have been a problem here and I wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't won all the belts but even the made up guys you start out fighting have level 3 in their styles!
Here comes the e-mail! Wich would've been decent except you get about 6 a month,a ton of it with little to no relevence to what you're doing and while you can just ignore it there' not option to turn off the beep sound.
Training time. I'm sorry but did Brock's speed go down cause he's strong? No. Can Anderson Silva not KO someone cause he's fast? He sure can KO someone. But no,the game doesn't let you have both at a certian point. Then there's the sparring. Did you know rocking them, knocking them down and KOing them are all worth the same? In fact it's better to NOT KO them so they get up and you keep rocking them and knocking them down since it's all the same. But of course you get half your points stolen because your partner isn't at a proper level. (I'll get back to this later) All this of course uses up your stamina. So instead of making one last training push before the big fight you end up sitting on your *** for a week or 2 so you don't go in at a disadvantage. I wonder if Machida sat on his *** the whole last week before the fight with Evans. I'm guessing not. Did they both go in with less because they attended the weigh-ins? Nope. Is it ever so excruating to go to a fight a night or sign some autographs for fans? Don't think so. But it is in the game. Oh and hey, your training partners are exactly the same every time regardless of weight class.
Now you'll be invited to a camp. Of course you can't actually pick when you go. They tell you when you go. These can end up poorly timed. As we all know you don't actually train with the people you pick so none of that matters. You can get 70 points per camp. Wich seems to make sense untill you find out you need 150 to get to the next level and points don't carry over. So that results instead of being rewarded you end up with 60 wasted points for 3 perfect camps. On top of this bullllllllllllllllllllll sometimes your training partner is just an idiot. Go to the stand up camp and he spends the whole time trying to take you down or maybe you've knocked them down or have ended up taking them down somehow and just stood up and they just stay on the mat for a good 20 seconds because there's no stand ups. Then we have grappling camp. Part of these goals require the AI to get you in a specific position and you to get out of it. Except you never end up in the position and can't get the goal done because the AI has no idea that's what you're trying to do unlike a real training partner.
When you get to fight you can't watch other fights,as I've recently found out they're rigged. They'll come out the same every time you re-load the same card. Also the awards come out the same every time and as I mentioned in the other topic I've had it occur that I was the only one to win by submission and the award wasn't even given out.
Now for the gameplay. I don't know what happens or when exactly but there seems to be some sort of strange difficulty related problem. Being undefeated by the time I got to the 20's/30's all my clinch attempts are shrugged off right away or countered on the first hit, they have to be at the least ammount of energy to be KO'd,subs plain just don't work later in the game even when they have no energy and low ratings and the whole thing is just strange regardless of the difficulty picked,it sure doesn't play the same as it does in exhibition wich makes no sense at all. This also affects your training partner making that even more of a chore resulting in the possibility of ending up with less points though you're supposed to be getting more.
Finally the fights are too frequent. (Actually I missed something so if I remember it that can be added.)
They need to scrap this whole non-sensical mess next time.Last edited by goh; 06-05-2009, 02:20 AM.Comment

Re: Official UFC Undisputed 2009 Impressions
Cheers bro...yeah, really enjoying it. I was really pysched for Fight Night 4, but this thing has just taken fighting games to a whole new level. FN4 will have to be extremely good to compare favourably.Comment

Re: Official UFC Undisputed 2009 Impressions
My MLB 2k9 season is on hold because UFC has been in my system non stop for 2 weeks also. The other day I wanted to get 1-2 fights in and instead I put 11 in going 6-5 I suck at the game yet can't turn it off. When I lose it doesn't feel cheap and when I win I feel rewarded.Gaming hard since 1988
I have won like 25 Super Bowls in Madden so I am kinda a big deal.Comment

Re: Official UFC Undisputed 2009 Impressions
After winning the UFC belt in career i have to say this mode is dissapointing. There are too many menus to get to something. I did not even bother trying to change trunks and logos because of the terrible menu system.
It feels like a soap opera with all the stupid emails and pop ups. I just want to fight. The stat system takes too long to build your character up. I hate how these career modes never let you use a real person instead of always having to create a character. It should be an option of using a current fighter or CAF.Comment

Re: Official UFC Undisputed 2009 Impressions
For some reason it beings in that stupid loading screen for the smallest of tasks - like bringing up some new options...
And like you said - changing the logos on the trunk...
I'd have to give this game a solid 1/10 in terms of menu design, navigation, and ease of use... Worst I've ever used.Comment

The menu design is the worst I've ever used in a video game.

Re: Official UFC Undisputed 2009 Impressions
I hate how I only use boxing and wrestling. I am such a newb...To me the other fight styles seem useless...But from what I hear they work great. seems like the clinches dont work...They always shove out of it and I dont know hot to keep em locked.Comment

Re: Official UFC Undisputed 2009 Impressions
yeah thats how i was for awhile, cus boxing gets under the high kicks and super man punch's, and throwing them down drops there stanima quick. but i switched up and now i'm in love with bjj, michida is a beast, its really easy, good top game and good ground game. my concern is i wish judo was used more, it seems everyone is wrestler or bjj. i know its the most common but still.Comment

I did a quick write up of my thoughts on the game. I was surprised by how much I liked it. Let me know if you agree.

Re: Official UFC Undisputed 2009 Impressions
I've been playing a lot of online matches lately and although i enjoy them the amount of people that quit on me is just ridiculous. Everytime i got for a submission and get it they quit, every time. It's gotten to the point where i am afraid to try submissions because i just know the guy will quit. I'm 36-31 online but have at least 10 wins taken from me via people who quit, hopefully that patch comes out soon.Comment
