Re: UFC 99: The Comeback (Potential Spoilers)

I was really hyped up to see this card. And after it was over I was really disappointed. I thought the Judges missed the Caol Uno Spencer Fisher Fight and the Wandy Franklin fight. Cain looked good in the fact he was staying on Congo, but unimpressive with his strikes and inability to finish. Marcus Davis looked mad and scared at the same time. Overall it left me wanting more.

I'm slightly drunk, but I thought Wand won that fight 2 rounds to 1. I was shocked to see Rich get a UD. Total BS.

      I'm friggin pissed.

I agree with the Uno fight but I thought Rich won.

I think they got them both right. Both Franklin and Fisher won the first two rounds

Ben Saunders really disappointed me. He looked overwhelmed by Swick, who IMO isn't really any good. I feel to hard for the Saunders hype.

Still think Wand clearly won that fight. At the same time, Wand's looking older and older every time he goes out there. I don't think he beats Anderson or Nate Marquardt. I'd like to see him fight Okami, Bisping or Cote.

Kongo's ground game and takedown defense is so bad, I don't think he can ever be able to compete against top wrestlers (Carwin, Cain, Brock).

            Cro Cop is a bum.

Yeah, it looked like someone had been murdered. Too bad there were so many decisions taking up time.

Uno GOT SCREWED! I'm soooo pissed right now. What the hell were the judges looking at?

And WTF was with Goldberg calling Uno Carl?

Cro Crop looked much bigger, but still looked like crap. He would have gotten eaten alive if he stayed in UFC (and it hurts me to say that).

Valezquez beat the brakes of Kongo. I don't think I've seen Kongo get dominated like that before. This derails Kongo's impending title shot.

                  I also thought Rich won.

Re: UFC 99: The Comeback (Potential Spoilers)

I came in expecting a good card and to be honest it was just okay.

Davis/Hardy was a decent enough fight but I thought for sure it would end in a knockout.

Swick/Saunders was not as exciting as I would have thought either. It ended nice but when the second most exciting thing about a fight is a verbal exchange you know there's a problem.

Cro Cop beat a tomato can. Big deal.

I thought they made the right call with the Uno/Fisher fight. It was close but Fisher did the most damage and Uno did nothing when he was able to get it to the ground.

Cain Velasquez certainly impressed me. I really like the guy but I didn't think he'd be able to hand with Kongo just yet. I figured the only way he had a chance was on the ground and that's exactly what he did. I find it funny that Kongo kept asking for a title shot. This fight proved he's nowhere near ready for one. People ready for a title shot would have put Cain away when they rocked him TWICE in the fight. He showed no signs of trying to get out of from under Cain either. I would have liked to have seen Cain spread him out and choke him out but he still controlled the whole fight and brutalized him on the ground.

The main event was awesome. I really like both guys so I didn't want to see either of them get knocked out. A decision was fitting and they both put on a good show. I personally thought it was even going into round 3 and I thought Wanderlei did enough to take the round. I can see how Franklin got it though.

One thing I will say is that I think it's time for Dana and the UFC to reconsider how fights are being scored by the judges. Takedowns are nice and all but if you don't do any damage they're kind of pointless. Look at the Hardy/Davis fight. Hardy got some takedowns but it was Davis who was more threatening in that position, not Hardy. I would like to see more emphasis put on what they do on the ground rather than just being able to take it there. Velasquez took the fight to the ground and continued to rain down hammerfists and did damage but Swick took the fight to the ground and did nothing. Franklin's takedown at the end of the round likely sealed the victory for him yet he did nothing with the takedown. I don't know, it's just starting to bother me how much weight takedowns themselves have.

I dont know what fight the judges were watching but it clearly looked like silva won the fight over franklin. Then for them to have a unanimous decision is just crazy.

Velasquez was a beast on the ground, but he still couldn't finish the job with his striking. He also did not look good in the standup. Showed a good chin, but he still seems raw to me, he needs a lot more work which it sounds like he said himself after the fight. Kongo, I have no idea what his thinking was. The few times when he had a second of advantage he would clinch. Dumb. I give him credit though, he was pounded for almost the full 15 minutes and he hung in there.

Marcus Davis was weak pulling a LaBron at the end of his fight too.

I wouldn't think Silva clearly won the fight. But I could see it going either way. I was ready for a split or majority on that one. I was also surprised with the unanimous decision.

I don't really consider them the same thing though. Lebron was a poor sport because they lost while Davis sincerely hated Hardy for what he said about him. To me that's understandable.

Oh - the basketball guy. I thought it was some MMA fighter I hadn't heard about or something.

Yeah - not making up afterward was fine with me. Don't expect to talk all sorts of **** and just make up at the end - Hardy is a ****ing prick, and Davis wanted nothing to do with him.
