I'd have to think about it more and compare and wait for the rest, but this is one of my picks for fight of the year. GREAT fight to watch....

Re: UFC 99: The Comeback (Potential Spoilers)
SpoilerSo what's next for Wandy. I say he fights either the loser of Bisping/Hendo or MarquardtComment

Re: UFC 99: The Comeback (Potential Spoilers)
SpoilerI think Marquardt is too dangerous right now. Next to Silva he's definitely top dog in that division to me. I think the loser of Bisping/Hendo would be good. If it's Hendo, he gets a rematch of that brutal KO in Pride. If it's Bisping, hopefully we get to see him run through that cocky bastard. Wanderlei's stock didn't really fall losing to Rich the way that he did.Last edited by Pappy Knuckles; 06-13-2009, 04:59 PM.Comment

Re: UFC 99: The Comeback (Potential Spoilers)
Spoiler
Saunders should be buried after that fight. When a guy is verbally calling you out in the middle of a fight for doing nothing but holding on for dear life when you're on your back and your response is to continue to do nothing but hold on for dear life, you don't deserve to be on the main card. Saunders might have personally set jiu jitsu back a decade after that performance. Glad he got knocked out.
Crocop looked good. Didn't really get touched, but Al Turk isn't much of an opponent. Shame the eye poke essentially ended it, but the fight was nearly over before that anyway and there were zero signs that Al Turk could hang with Crocop.
Really thought Uno won his fight, but it was so close. Probably the highest ratio of entertainment to anything happening, though. It was almost like a dog chasing his tail in the sense that it never seemed like much was getting done, but both guys still managed to make it a pretty good fight to watch.
Velasquez is a beast. He took two shots back-to-back right on the button from a powerful striker, and responded by slamming Kongo. Just insane. I don't know how he'd do against someone like Lesnar, though, since Brock just seems to be a bigger version of Velasquez. That's why I'd like to see the heavyweight division cap at 235 and make a super heavyweight division capped at 265 or 275.
And why the hell was Rogan getting on Velasquez for his finishing ability? First of all, Velasquez finished his previous five fights. And second of all, it's really hard to finish a tough guy who is doing little but turtleing.
Fun fight from Rich and Wandy. Really wish Wandy had more of that aggressiveness from his Pride days, but oh well.
Overall, pretty good card.

Re: UFC 99: The Comeback (Potential Spoilers)
SpoilerWere the camera angles odd or did Miragliotta not know where the back of Kongo's head was? It looked like Cain hit him 10-20 times in the back of the head. I heard someone say watch the back of the head once and it sounded like it came from the corner. No stand up,no warning,no points taken away,no DQ so I guess either it didn't happen or Miragliotta didn't see it for some reason.
I had it 29-28 Wandy, figured it could go either way but was suprised at unanimous for Franklin. What was with not announcing scores either? I sure hope it wasn't 30-27 for Franklin.Comment

Re: UFC 99: The Comeback (Potential Spoilers)
SpoilerI think Silva won that fight. It was pretty clear he lost round 1, but definitely won round 2 as he almost put Franklin away. 3rd round he hurt Franklin again and stalked him the entire round....octagon control went to Silva there. I know Franklin took him down, but he didn't do a thing from the top and Silva got back up.
I don't know how Silva does it, but he has added to his legacy even through losses. The Liddel fight and this fight. Did you see he was waving on the crowd late 3rd round when he was at powerpunch range from Franklin?? Crazy, but awesome.
Great great fightComment

Re: UFC 99: The Comeback (Potential Spoilers)
Spoiler
I thought Rich won that final round. He picked apart Silva for roughly the first 4 minutes doing solid damage. When Silva made his flurry, I don't think much of anything landed unlike the second round. And then the takedown clinched it for Franklin. So yeah, I had it 29-28.Comment

Re: UFC 99: The Comeback (Potential Spoilers)
SpoilerI don't know about that man. The only reason he won was because of the dumb gameplan of Kongo and his lack of ability to change strategy in fight. Kongo has no takedown defense . Alsp Cain's striking defense is AWFUL. Put him against a well rounded fighter and he will have trouble. I am going to root for him because he's an up and comer, but he really needs to work on his striking game if he will have any chance to win the HW belt.Comment
