Re: The Ground Game Makes Striking Seem Primitive

I have come across body blow spammers and just strike spammers in general. I can counter their tactics, but the fact that they can do it with some level of success is what bothers me.

Also the only thing that really sets the superior strikers apart from others is the power they have. I don't even find the side-stepping to be as advantageous against over aggressive fighters as it should be, example:

Ive mastered the ground, but ive felt the striking was a mixed bag so avoided it. I decided to explore it further (to make sure i wasn't missing something) by fighting a few unranked fight and only striking.

I came across a guy that all he did was lunge with front kick into a looping hook combo. The point of this was to safely close the distance with an attack that if blocked leaves you close enough to unleash powerful hooks. After reading the guy, i found it was IMPOSSIBLE to sidestep or back step the front kick consistantly and make him pay, which fed into the guys gameplan. Annoyed by this, i proceeded to take him down and punch his nose bone into his brain.

I just find that this game is truer to the ground game than the striking

OK I will look send you an add later, yeah buddy71 is my GT. I think the issue is when someone is within clinch range, the strikes are fast and shot, meaning that before the "stun" animation is done the next strike is landed.

Down on the right stick would shut him down instantly. If the connection is laggy, I can see your point, but other wise nadda.

Yeah, i hear you. The only thing I find mildly cheap in this game is a fighter with a strong muy thai clinch. it is just to devastating, and at times can be rediculous to get out of.

Yea it is, but im not worried im just gonna enjoy the game for what it is

With that said, getting stunned shouldnt happen the way it does, Ive seen IRL fights a guy will get hit witg a combo but still pull off a knee strike...Watching a UFC fight and playing this game, you will see alot of flaws...Even the ground game is basic....All in all im still having fun with it....FN4's physics engine will be hard to let go after that game comes out when playing this game....Hopefully they improve the physics in 2010 since they had trouble with clipping this year...

I understand that, but why complain when there is a way to counter it?
