    Re: UFC 110:Velasquez vs. Big Nog/Bisping v. Silva - February 21, 2010

Great night, good to see the Aussie public get behind this (2nd fastest sellout in UFC history and already coming back next year). One of the local HD sport channels picked up the tab so it wasn't PPV (was it PPV for you guys in the US?) and we got it for free.

I loved seeing Bisping's annoying mouth shut. Found it hilarious that he acted so hard done by when it was pretty obvious he was only 10 seconds away from being submitted at the end of the 2 and nearly KO's at the end but he's a total jackass so i wouldn't expect anything else. Was suprised to see Nog KO'd so early and while i thought Cain was going to win i thought it would go the distance.

I had a nice multi bet on Bader and Silva that was easy money. Good times!

The winner if healthy gets Brock. Cain/Dos Santos should be a #1 contenders match for the winner of Brock v. Carwin/Mir.
If Carwin deserves a shot then Cain deserves one just as much.

Carwin has only beaten Gonzaga and if he were to get the title shot he would have beaten Mir also.

Cain has beaten Kongo, Rothwell, and now Big Nog. Those are pretty equal fight resumes to me.

exactly, Cain has just as much of an arguement as the other 2

          Goldberg - What the hell?

          'OK, now he's been stopped.'

I can't stand that. Mir already beat TKO'd him. Stop with the excuses staph this, staph that... He got TKO'd already by Mir big time. I can't stand that they do that to the guy, give him no credit for his win.

He comes back and looks good against a 46 year old man and suddenly - "this is the Nog we all know! the one who lost to Mir was sick and ill and it wasn't his fault!"

Yeah - well he just did absolutely nothing against Cain and got KO'd... Mir did the exact same to him already; they need to stop acting like Staph beat Nog, not Mir.

That was one thing i noticed. When Sotoropolus got mount on Stevenson, the crowd went nuts. They gotta bring a title fight to Australia.

I dont think it makes sense to make someone the interim heavyweight champ and make them wait to fight the heavyweight champ.....especially when he had a title shot scheduled against the champ that got cancelled because of the champ's illness.

There wasn't one boring fight last night and the Aussie crowd was amazing. I'm glad to hear Dana White say Australia will be a yearly destination now.

Cain looks ready for his title shot. I would love to see Cain vs. JDS but that would eliminate one guy from contention. I don't think Cain wants to wait until near the end of the year for his next fight so the UFC has give him another guy while Lesnar defends the belt in the summer.

Lytle has picked up 7 fight night bonuses from his last 9 fights.

LOL at Bisping's reaction after Buffer announced the results. He acted like he got screwed over.

I'm not on the Cain train yet - I think he needs another solid fight before getting a title shot.

And George is right up there in the LW division right now, as far as I'm concerned. Man he looked good.

Whoever the champ is should hope that Cain gets his title shot sooner than later. This guy trains HARD, and improves leaps and bounds between fights. The longer the wait, the better he'll be when that time comes.

Yes it was PPV in NA. It was also on ESPN in the UK. That's a pretty major thing if ESPN is as big over there as here.

Great card last night. I was impressed with Bader and Sotiropoulos. Wandy looked good at 185 and came so close to finishing that d-bag Bisping.

Cain looked great too but I agree with those who think he shouldn't get a title shot just yet. IMO he doesn't leapfrog the winner of Carwin/Mir. I do feel he deserves a shot but unfortunately his timing is off here. Let him fight the loser of Carwin/Mir and if he wins that give him his title shot at the winner of Lesnar and Carwin/Mir winner. If he's deserving of the title shot he'll beat the loser of Carwin/Mir.

On a side note, I almost convinced myself last night that Cris Cyborg Santos and Wanderlei Silva are the same person.

Mir kinda leapfroged Cain. Cain/Carwin was supposed to be a #1 contender fight when that was still on.

I love Nog but man, the UFC has gone to great lengths to cover up how mediocre he's been since joining the promotion.

He should've been KO'd by Herring, who made the terrible mistake of not going to the ground and pounding out Nog after he clearly had him close to dream street with a leg kick. Sylvia was totally picking him apart on his feet in their fight, too, but Sylvia made one mistake and that cost him that fight.

Mir destroyed Nog. I'm sorry, but using the illness as an excuse is weak. If you're well enough to fight, then you have to except the outcome no matter what you have going on.

Nog did look good against Randy, but heck, Randy gets dropped at least one by everyone save Mark Coleman, these days.

I think it's just a case of Nog having been in way too many battles and taken too much damage over the course of a very long career. He's still entertaining and still dangerous, but his days as a top-level HW are over, imo.

I didnt realize this but Soszynski was given a TKO victory over Bonnar even though it was a headbutt that caused the gash to open up and not a punch. Both fighters are willing to have a rematch so I wouldnt be shocked if thats what happens but I was kinda surprised that they didnt somehow notice that it wasnt a punch that did that damage in the 3rd round.
