I still say give him the winner of Bader/Little Nog.

Some good names being tossed around. I already mentioned I'd like to see him against Forrest but Rich Franklin or Ryan Bader would be nice match-ups too.

Either way, I just can't wait to see Bones fight again. He's one of the few fighters/athletes I get legitimately excited to watch, next to LeBron, Adrian Peterson and Anderson Silva (when he's on his game and not acting a fool).

Thinking about it more I think they give him Forrest or Franklin. The UFC usually doesn't match up rising stars that often so they can keep both in title contention for as long as possible.

I think Thiago Silva would be the biggest test for him. Thiago is probably the most underrated LHW in MMA. Not only would he be the best fighter, stand-up wise, that Jones has ever faced but he's also a legit BJJ blackbelt. Rashad Evans, who is a much better wrestler than Jones, had trouble keeping him down, plus Thiago has pretty good size.

And Silva was battling a back injury during the Evan's fight as well. The same injury has been exacerbated, and he stated he would not take another fight with the condition his back was in.

True, its sad he can't stay healthy because he puts on good fights.

The word I've been seeing places is that they may fast-track him to the Machida/Rampage loser... Slightly longer layoff, but unless one of them gets really injured, that would be a great idea IMO. Just throw him in there and see what he can do with either Rampage's power or Machida's equally-unorthodox style... he's got plenty of time to rebuild himself if he gets worked, but I honestly think he'd manage to beat both of those guys. I think Rua is the only guy I would worry about for him.

I think that would be a bad idea. One, that leaves him on the shelf until Feb/Mar at the earliest. Two, as impressive as Jones has been I dont think he should go from fighting Matshysenko to a former LHW champion. Just give him Franklin, Bader or Nog. They are all tough fights and would be quality wins

I agree with you here, I hope he doesnt get Franklin though, because i dont want a local fightter to get koed/tkoed.
I think he would have some problems on the ground with Nog, unless he gets crucifix in 5 seconds

And if Herb Dean is the referee again and stops the fight after giving Matyushenko no time to try to escape the crucifix. There's no way anyone is going to get out of that in 5 seconds, but Herb stops it because Jones is throwing elbows a million miles an hour.

Not saying Jones didn't deserve the win, because he did, but you have to give a fighter more time to defend himself. Again goes with my idea that Herb Dean stops fights to early, as do most refs.

I knew Matyushenko wasn't a worthy challenger to Jones so the fight didn't surprise me. I'm sure Jones didn't learn anything from that fight. Jones should have been given someone on the level of T Silva for his last fight.

Griffin should be ready to fight by November and there's a good chance Franklin will be back by January. Jones should be fighing one of these guys in his next fight.

An interesting thing about Jones is how long before we see his first fight at HW. His walking weight is near 240 and he's getting bigger and bigger. I know Jones has said he thinks he should be able to fight in 2 divisions like Couture.

I know that Bones recently said that his body is still developing, so he will be at HW sooner or later.. but walks around at 240? I would venture and guess that Bones walks around at like 225-230.. but 240?

That would put him at Forrest level and that is massive.. there is no way in hell he would make 205 in about a year if right now he walks around at 240 and his body continues to fill itself out.

I made a mistake. Jones got up to 231pds not 240pds.
