An alternative to the shine found.
I figured this was worth a new thread because it will be lost in the impressions thread, and this is really useful info. You can finish submissions without the shine. It involves holding in the right stick, then releasing. If you hold too long you will be flipped over. If you miss your stamina takes longer to recover. So there are risks to this method. There is still a bit to learn about the system but when you release you will see them "crank" the submission. sometimes it goes far enough for the finish. some times it goes far enough to leave you in position but tired. and sometimes you dont get anything on it, and get flipped. Just putting this out there for the rest of the guys to see why this works or not.

Re: An alternative to the shine found.
Does it work for takedown defense as well? I'm not at home or I'd play with it. I'm sure once THQ finds out about it if it's in the final version and does work they'll patch it. They love the shine a little too much.Last edited by JoeMimic; 05-07-2010, 08:50 AM. -

Re: An alternative to the shine found.
I wonder if this is the "Flash" Submission system. Say you slam a guy, as soon as he hits it should remove some of his stamina, then you lock in the sub and hold in the right stick or the quick tap. It would explain some of those extremely fast chokes we saw from the gametrailer videos.Comment

I don't know phobia from what I've notived if you have a lot of stamina and hold it longer you crank further. But hold it too long, say longer than 3 secs. And you will lose position. Plus I caught a true flash sub anyway.Comment

Interesting. I am going to do some testing of this feature when I get home from work today. Thanks for the heads up on it though MattComment

Re: An alternative to the shine found.
Update after playing with it. I wore down their stamina like normal, but instead of letting their stamina drain, I just held the stick for a like 2 seconds, i letgo when the rest of their stamina drained, I got a good yank, but still had half of my stamina, I finished it off with the shine and got the tap. This is getting interesting.Comment

Re: An alternative to the shine found.
it seems, but while your holding for a yank you can actually see them starting to sweep you.sometimes the yank gets you further, sometimes the yank gets you right back where you started, sometimes it wasnt worth it to yank and you have to shine the rest of the way to avoid the sweep. and lets not forget that sometimes you actually get the finish out of it. It really depends on how much stamina they have, plus the amount of stamina you have. This is what i have to go on so far. our camp will definately have to put some work to dig deeper and see how it all really works. hopefully the in game tutorial will have something on it.
Edit: I am also working with this just on the cpu. i havent seen anything with how this will go against another person. Nor if you can hold for defensive purposes as well.Last edited by ManiacMatt1782; 05-07-2010, 04:02 PM.Comment

Re: An alternative to the shine found.
What I want to know/haven't seen posted yet...are the buttons completely useless this year? I guess I can see the big deal with turbo controllers and stuff, but it would be nice to have button mashing as an option offline. I hate "the shine."Comment

not pulling, pressing the right stick in like a button and holding it.Comment
