Re: UFC 118 - Edgar/Penn II
I'm going with Frankie again in the rematch. BJ is definitely going to come out more motivated, but I have a feeling that he is going to be too aggressive and Frankie will catch him for the TKO.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

I just hope BJ Penn doesn't turn into a Jens Pulver
That fool lost 9 of his last 10 fights. Even getting KO'ed by rookies in small local organizations.
His career fell off the cliff. Went from Pride star to UFC to WEC to local organizations. Hell even below KOTC level competition, that is how far he fell off.Comment

That's a bold prediction. I like it. Don't necessarily agree, but I like it. I think it will be real tough for Edgar to drop Penn with strikes as BJ has a great chin.Currently Playing:

Re: UFC 118 - Edgar/Penn II
Edgar is a point-fighter. At least he was in his last fight with BJ so he's not finishing anyone. His game-plan last time out was clearly to out-point BJ and win a decision. I hate that mentality and if more people find success with it than not, it will ruin MMA for me.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Re: UFC 118 - Edgar/Penn II
bj hasn;t been great recently ill give you guys that, but he is still the most talented fighter in the division.
just depends on his atitude, shape, fitness, motivation etc. i really cant see edgar winning again to be honest. im thinking if bj comes out and finds the fight is going in a similar direction as the first he will have to try out his jui-jitsu this time. he is a freak of a grappler, and edgar isn;t exactly the best, i wondered why he didn;t try it before (maybe he thought he was winning)Comment

BJ made Ken Flo and Diego look like his bitch in his fights before Edgar. Let's not push him under the bus quite yet.I just hope BJ Penn doesn't turn into a Jens Pulver

Re: UFC 118 - Edgar/Penn II
Because history has show that Edgar has TKO'd only Mark Bocek and Mark Getto. WHO?
And BJ Penn has been TKO'd only by the two greatest welterweight of all time Matt Hughes and GSP
I can see you making a case for a decision win on Frankie side, but c'mon, be serious now.Comment

Re: UFC 118 - Edgar/Penn II
I'm a huge Jens fan, but he was definitely overrated...Now it seems like he's just got one punch but guys work around that and submit him or knock him out all the time. I think he just got popular at the time cause of the circumstances, not cause he was truly a elite level fighter.I just hope BJ Penn doesn't turn into a Jens Pulver

Again, I am a Jens fan, seems like a pretty cool/real guy, but his legend has grown greater than the wins actually were...Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: UFC 118 - Edgar/Penn II
Considering how rarely BJ has been finished and Edgar naturally being a wrestler out pointing him seems to be the best applicable strategy. Don't really see him pulling out a sub,he doesn't exactly have KO power but has good technique and while Edgar is a very good wrestler he's not GSP where he can takedown Penn at will and keep him there, couldn't the first time anyway. That leaves winning 3 rounds and not losing 2 by 10-8.Edgar is a point-fighter. At least he was in his last fight with BJ so he's not finishing anyone. His game-plan last time out was clearly to out-point BJ and win a decision. I hate that mentality and if more people find success with it than not, it will ruin MMA for me.Comment

Re: UFC 118 - Edgar/Penn II
I just got back from the weigh ins, and it was a pretty cool scene. Definitely representing for my fellow BC grad Ken Flo.
A couple of random observations:
- Some in the crowd booed one of the most un-booable fighters in MMA, Frankie Edgar.
- The Boston-area guys (Lauzon, Davis, Ken-Flo) got big applause, as expected, and their opponents were booed.
- Gabe Ruediger stole the show by presenting Lauzon with a cake that read "Sorry for your Loss."
- Huge ovation for Couture, who chucked his hat into the crowd. He said that he is excited to welcome Toney to MMA. Toney was booed and gave some kind of hand gesture with both hands to the crowd (didn't think he was giving us the bird).
- Place had a ton of people show up.
- Ticket scalpers were in the arena trying to sell seats. They need to try hard, as the ticket market for this event is actually pretty soft. I'm expecting to walk up and get a seat for between $40 and $60 on the street just prior to the event.Been gaming since the Atari 2600, and hells no I won't stop!!!Comment
