Yes I know Cain comes from a wrestling pedigree but when technique is close to or at even, then power is the deciding factor. I dont care if Cain has a gas tank that can last for days. He cannot stop a take down from Brock and weather the concrete blocks that Brock will drop on his head nor will he be able to take more than a couple of shots from Carwin. I think Cain and JDS will be fighting for 3 and 4 in the division while Carwin and Brock will be fighting for 1 and 2 for the foreseeable future.

Guys like Mir, Randy, and even Big Nog, give a good case for a 206-225 division but then you will have Cain and JDS dropping down and it'll be Lesnar and Carwin fighting every 6 months for the title. Who the hell would stick around to get pummeled by either of them?
See this is what I've been thinking for awhile. Eventually the UFC is going to have to split the current Heavyweight division off into a Cruiserweight division that maxes at 225-230.

I mean think about it, the current divisions are 155, 170, 185, 205 and then 265. All other divisions have a 15-20 pound difference and then you get to heavyweight and its 60 pounds. There's just too much disparity from a guy like Fedor who weighs-in at 230 and then Brock who on fight night is probably around 280. The way Brock and Carwin are running through the current division, it just seems inevitable to me.

Whenever the UFC finally absorbs the WEC and adds the featherweight/bantamweight divisions the cruiserweight won't be far behind.

Yeah, I think they'll add another division at some point. The sport's just adapted, at first the large weight range was fine. Now you're getting these massive yet athletic guys you didn't in the past. They usually were in other sports.

A 230-240 HW used to be able to hang with the heaviest guys, not as much now.

Oh, I have no desire to see Lesnar/Mir 3...Mir just gets manhandled and I don't think he could improve enough to be able to physically handle Brock

Yea but in boxing there is a lot more space for weight in the heavyweight division. Leave it the way it is, they dont need to start going nuts with adding weight classes because then it ends up like boxing where it becomes so dilluted. They need to add a division to fit in guys like Aldo and Faber to really get some of those WEC guys in, although its really not that bad having the WEC.

I see the stalker is back in form.
Id rather see Mir vs Nog

And no they aren't going to have to split the division at HW. Its fine how it is. If you split it, there would be like 3 or 4 people there. Brock Carwin Nelson Meathead.

You don't change the division for one person.

I seen the Fedor thing, he could cut to 205 but he won't.

Yeah but those guys practically created their own division already since no one can compete due to the disparity in size. (I'm talking more in terms of Brock and Carwin, not Big Country and Meathead.)

If things keep going the way they are were gonna have more guys coming into the division like Duffee and pretty soon it'll just be a bunch of monSTARS at the top of the division. And once it gets to the point where you have to be 265 or get dominated by a bigger guy, the UFC will have to create a division to compensate for the smaller heavyweights.

I'm not saying it has to be done right now, but if this trend we're seeing continues, were eventually going to have to add a new division. That just seems unavoidable.
