Still though, I really think the GSP won't be until 2012. The Vitor fight is in Feb, the Sonnen fight will prob be in July or August... then the superfight will probably start off 2012.

Then I would like to see Spider finally move up to LHW to end his career.

"If Georges said he was going to go to 185 and stay there, then it would be for the title," White told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). "It would be a superfight for the 185-pound title.

"It's hard to say no. It's hard for me to say, 'This fight doesn't make sense.'"
I see ur point. I was thinking Nov. or Dec 2011 but it could easily fall to Jan or Superbowl Wknd 2012.

I actually wasn't thinking how long of a layoff that would be for GSP, but like its already been mentioned, Silva has 2, possibly 3, fights lined up.

If this fight eventually gets made, the earliest I could see it is December, otherwise I'm thinking January/February/March 2012. So I guess they'd almost be forced to give GSP a warmup guy at MW despite the risk.

I just really want to see this fight happen. Both guys have completely cleaned out their divisions. Well, I guess Spider hasn't completely but he's dominated everyone but Belfort and Sonnen (who he beat anyways).

We all the saw the card so there's no need for me to talk about what happened last night.

I thought the coverage by the media was excellent. Sportsnet had a 1 hr preview show before the card, OTR had 2 shows dedicated to the event, and I even saw Ariel Helwani on CBC. While the UFC has become a lot more "mainstream" in the past couple of years, it still has a long way to go. I was watching Primetime Sports and the panel tried to "talk" about the UFC. One guy said the UFC is just like the WWF and another guy said he wouldn't be comfortable if his son told him he wanted to be a UFC fighter. Now of course all of these guys are in their 50's, so they're not the target audience.

Outside of the card itself, my favorite part of fight week was Dana White getting ripped by the Canadian media when he said GSP is the most famous athlete to ever come out of Canada. The media basically flipped it on him and made it seem like he was bashing Gretzky, lol.
Yeah, the pre-fight coverage was great. I just wish it was at least close to this for the other PPVs that GSP/Canada weren't involved in.

I was watching Primetime as well, as I do most weeks, and it annoyed the **** out of me that Bob McCown continues to brush MMA off and act like it's some form of "human cockfighting". It frustrates me to no end, especially since Bob is one of the best when it comes to what he does and I know he's smarter than that.

Someone even pointed out to him that he has no problem with boxing, but yet he continues to hate MMA. I'll give him credit because he didn't try to dodge the call out, but he didn't really have an answer for it either.

Hmm, if GSP's next fight is in April, and Spider won't be free until 2012...

I'm having a hard time imagining when these two guys are going to throw down.

I can't imagine GSP only having one fight in 2011.

**** Okami. GSP should skip his damn spot. Or punish Sonnen by making him fight a few people before he gets another title shot.

Yeah I agree. Actually I think GSP should just skip Okami and Sonnen completely.

Sonnen needs to prove himself after that hormone replacement mess.

I would love to see Silva defeat Vitor in FEB 2011, GSP defeat Shields in April 2011.

Then the Silva/GSP to end 2011

The rumor I read was that Sonnen was going to do the next season of TUF alongside Wanderlei as they have been exchanging barbs back and forth online apparently. Nobody has confirmed anything but I guess it makes some sense considering Wanderlei took offense to the things that Sonnen said about the Nog brothers.

Im not trying to single you out necessarily but its so tiresome hearing Sonnen getting ripped for this hormone replacement therapy, which for the record, Dan Henderson and Todd Duffee do the same thing and apparently get a free pass.

I'd still rather have GSP just skip over Okami and Sonnen to get a shot at the MW belt.

The problem with the UFC delaying a Silva/GSP match is that if one of them loses, some of the buzz would be gone.

How often do you hear people demanding the UFC sign Fedor so we can see him face Lesnar now?

If the UFC can get into New York, MSG would be a perfect neutral venue for Silva/GSP to fight.

I agree, I would rather see GSP fight Silva before Sonnen steps in for a rematch, especially considering they have the backstory to throw a Wanderlei/Sonnen fight together and then Sonnen can still work for the UFC while on suspension since he wouldnt be competing in the cage.

This is exactly what I want. It would work perfectly IMO, assuming both GSP and Anderson win and stay relatively healthy.

I guess I'm still the only one who doesn't want to see Silva/GSP. Silva has 4 inches on him and walks around about 40 pounds heavier than GSP walks around at. It's not really an even match-up on any level.
