I wonder how much Lesnar is getting paid to do this. I know Lesnar has a book coming out this year but he's the last guy I expect to be spending 6-8 weeks helping train people he doesn't know and all the PR he has to do because of the role.


The Vancouver UFC 131 card has a chance to be off the charts:

It's funny too because while playing EA MMA today I was wondering to myself when the next TUF was going to be starting up and now here's the answer.

Apparently they're going to be coaching welterweights from what I've read. I don't think that was mentioned in the link posted here.

I usually like the TUF's where the coaches are rivals or have disdain for each other. By all accounts JDS is a very cool nice guy and seems to be a gentleman.

Another issue is his level of English. I know he does speak English, but how well does he speak the language in order to communicate with his team. Yeah you can say Big Nog but Nog speaks English very well coming from a country where his first language is Portuguese, from what I have seen from JDS it is not at Nog's level. Then again I am sure he will have guys to help him coach and communicate but it is always cool to see them themselves give the instruction and the coaching.

It only makes sense after Mir got matched up with Nelson.

Good move by Dana, he's going all in baby. I like it.

Now if Brock gets mauled again, it could be curtains on his career, but hey... at least Dana will get one last big payday out of him.

Now if Brock beats JDS, it will signal a 180 degree turn in his standup defense... although JDS obviously isn't the wrestler Cain is.

Whomever wins, it will set up a great title fight with Cain. Either a chance for redemption for Brock or an **** standup/see if JDS can contain Cain's wrestling match with JDS/Cain...

I would have rather seen Mir and Nelson as coaches than these two. Like someone else mentioned JDS lack of English could be a problem. Also, Lesnar hasn't exactly been in MMA long enough to be a coach, IMO. Hopefully, they're planning on doing a Brazil vs. USA thing but, again the language barrier may be annoying. Either way I'll be rooting for JDS's team all the way.

I agree. Brock looked just so out of his element in his past two fights. He is very lucky he didn't lose to Carwin.

I still laugh when I think about people telling me that the Carwin/Brock fight only showed that Brock was "unbeatable" or what have you. Hehe

JDS stand up is superior to Cain's, but will JDS be able to defend Brock's takedowns like Cain could? I don't think so. Might allow Brock to say F it, and pick and choose times to get in JDS' space.

If Brock would just work on his damn stand up defense...

I don't know, but I think Brock has been exposed so much on his feet that it will always be his achilles heel. As a wrestler with so much raw strength and mass, I doubt he will ever do anything on his feet. Defensive or otherwise.

He needs to learn at Sensei Greg Jackson's feet. If he keeps "his boys" around I can see him leaving the sport.

Yeah his boys didn't teach him **** about the standup

Although I think Cain's wrestling is far better than anyone imagined, so Cain was just about the worst match up for Brock at that point of Brock's career.

I dont think Brock will ever be good at standup. His problem is his ability to take a punch. He seriously needs a whole camp where he just gets punched in the face. That will take away the instinct to turtle up every time he gets hit. His camp should be nothing but cardio and standup.

JDS hasnt fought a high level wrestler or anyone the size of Brock (Nelson is big but he was content to stand with JDS). As good as Cain is, Brock still got him down. He just couldnt keep Cain down because of Cain's wrstling ability. JDS isnt that good of a wrestler.
