Re: Zuffa purchases Strikeforce!
Overeem, Fedor, Nick Diaz, Melendez, Werdum, King Mo, Mousasi (co owned by M-1), Mayhem Miller,Tim Kennedy, Babalu (who will never fight in the UFC again), Daley (Ditto), Barnett (Ditto), Big foot Silva, KJ Noons and Henderson.
I think Dana would also want guys like Woodley, Del Rosario, Feijao, JZ Calvacante.
Yeah I think it's clear there's still great doubt that Fedor ever fights against any UFC HW's. My interest in that has waned significantly anyway.Comment

Re: Zuffa purchases Strikeforce!
Hard to find. I know Diaz and Melendez just signed 4 yr deals. Diaz has already fought once so he has 3 left.
I remember reading that King Mo recently signed a 4 yr deal. Werdum has two fights left and think Silva has 2 left too.Comment

Re: Zuffa purchases Strikeforce!
I still can't wrap my head around all of this... I wonder what’s going to happen with the guys in Strikeforce that are allowed to fight in Dream, Sengoku, K1, etc. Are they will allow them to continue to compete in other organizations> I mean, Overeem is the heavyweight champion of both Dream and K1!
I wonder what's going to happen with all the mid-level guys. Because although, Strikeforce wasn’t anywhere near as big roster wise but to have EVERYONE under one banner might be too convoluted. Let’s face it, some guys are never going to be a title holder/contender but those guys still have their place. Also, You need those guys in order for everything to fall in rank so you don’t have your top guys in a rotating cycle against each other accumulating losses. It will be really interesting to see how Dana and company use SF if they intend to use it as a minor league. I mean, what happens if a top guy in the UFC losses 3 or 4 tough fights in a row. Will they get knocked down to SF or cut completely? Then, will another company emerge to take the scrapes? Like M-1 Global? Will Bellator become bigger? So many questions so few answers.
I read today that Dana planned the timing of this announcement to coincide with the NFL lockout news. Rumor has it that Dana's plan is to literally undercut the NFL fanbase by providing UFC/Strikeforce in a time slot that would be endemic to NFL fans. Now that the 2011 NFL season is essentially displaced, it's heavily rumored that Dana will work with CBS to host weekly fights that will air on Sunday morning/evening. It's this type of move that could really bump MMA into the mainstream and I for one am very excited about all of this but, my head is still spinning with all the possibilities. My 2K17 Boston Celtics MyLeague

I dont think the merger will increase the UFC's roster by that much. There are only about 15-20 SF fighters that are UFC caliber. The rest will either remain in SF if the UFC turns it into a minor league or go to Bellator or M-1.Comment

Re: Zuffa purchases Strikeforce!
Small changes coming to Strikeforce: Now that Zuffa owns SF, all fights will be fought under the unified rules. This means elbows on the ground are now allowed.
No changes to production or announcers since Showtime controls that.
Grand Prix will run as scheduled.Last edited by aholbert32; 03-14-2011, 01:42 PM.Comment

I really hope somehow SF's presentation will be on par with UFC's now and Dana will get rid of the SF commentators.Originally posted by MoJust once I'd like to be the one they call a jerk off.Originally posted by MoYou underestimate my lazinessOriginally posted by Mo**** ya

Man a year is too long dealing with these commentators. They aren't entertaining and don't sound knowledgeable. I also get tired of waiting to see a KO 5 minutes after it already happened.Originally posted by MoJust once I'd like to be the one they call a jerk off.Originally posted by MoYou underestimate my lazinessOriginally posted by Mo**** ya

Re: Zuffa purchases Strikeforce!
I just don't like Gus, the other guys I don't mind too much... but the WEC guys are worlds better.
Gus wasn't on the Diaz broadcast... was he?
Also, did the press conference already happen today? Anyone have a link on where to watch?Comment

Conference call was today. The UFC 128 press conference is tomorrow where there will be plenty of SF questions.Comment

I am assuming White will stay with the business as usual line at the conference, but I'm hoping we get hints of what's to come.Comment
