I don't think it was missing weight because from what I've seen is that Nate unofficially made weight earlier in the day.
Nate's camp says its "nothing serious and that he would have been able to make weight" so Im really curious to see how this works itself out. Surely Dana wouldnt just cut him because of all this happening at the 11th hour would he?

EDIT- Do they even test for steroids pre-fight? If so, can they even get the results that quickly? Just browsing around the internet there seems to be more to him not making weight and maybe being in such bad shape that the doctor forbid him from losing any more weight due to health concerns thus causing the fight to be scrapped. Ive clearly got no idea to the legitimacy of this but here is a photo of Nate and Story taken just 22 hours ago, Nate looks pretty damn big compared to Story...

I would be shocked if it was steroids as it would seem detrimental to cutting weight but I suppose anythings possible. Ive been reading around and most signs point to him being somewhere around 12 pounds over the weight limit and not being allowed to cut that remaining weight by a doctor, could be completely false, but Ive ready it on a couple sites now. The most outlandish rumor Ive heard is that Nate has HIV and cant ever fight again, the lengths people will go to speculate is embarassing to say the least.

Wow. The last thing I expected to see in this thread is that Nate's fired.

          Wonder what happened?

Could be a banned substance that helped him cut weight that he was caught with.

Could be but I can say with 110% accuracy that it ended up having nothing to do with not making weight. There is a video that shows him walking around 1lb over the weight limit prior to the weigh-in's so obviously he shouldnt have had any issues getting down to the 171lb limit. The Pennsylvania Athletic Commission is supposed to be holding some sort of press conference today at 4pm EST so hopefully we find out more then.

Pennsylvania Athletic Commission says everyone's known about this "medical issue" for at least 6 weeks and he had that amount of time to resolve it. The PAC rep said he really though he'd clear medicals, so it's obviously not something terrible. I guess the UFC is pissed that he didn't handle whatever it was, and since that's unprofessional they fired him.

No clue what the issue is though, any ideas? Apparently it's not the weight cut we all thought it was...(or could it still be that?)

I dont see there being anyway its the weight cut now that there is video evidence that he was on point to make weight. Im clueless now though as I dont think its steroids as that would have come out so its gotta be something else. From the sounds of things we wont know until Nate decides to say what it is as the commission wont elaborate due to laws and I doubt Dana is either.

Side note, the undercard fights have been on Facebook for awhile, Lauzon is about to get into the octagon for anyone who forgot.

Wow, I wonder WTF happened. Crazy to say the least. I'll still probably watch but this kind of ruins my excitement for this card now.

Is there any chance we hear from Dana what happened at the end of this event?

Anyone watching UFC on Versus right now? Basically the Pennsylvania Athletic Commission doesn't allow information to be disclosed, so it's up to Nate to tell the public exactly what he did. Hopefully we get some sort of clarity from him soon. Dana sounded disgusted during his interview.

Dana's interview basically said Nate did or didn't do something that he was supposed to do to get cleared. Maybe there was something that he was taking and he was warned 6 weeks ago about and that he would not be allowed to fight. Whatever it was, he knew about it and didn't correct it.

Im watching the prelims on Facebook but what you said sounds like what I read as well. Its going to come down to Dana or Nate saying something or else we probably wont ever know what happened.

I don't think Dana will say anything due to privacy rights.

Nate has scheduled something on Tuesday to "clear" everything up.. but chances are we'll just get some canned PR response. The fact that Dana said he was disgusted though speaks volumes about what Nate might have done.

I think we'll find out eventually. Dana is almost always pretty honest, so if Nate doesn't let the info out, Dana will.

Anyways, that ref in the Mitrione fight was annoyingly impatient.
