Chris Lytle apparently announced he was going to retire following the fight with Hardy later today. Im shocked and surprised so now Im sure the UFC would prefer Hardy win otherwise its a waste of a fight since Hardy might be on his way out with a loss and the winner would be retiring.

"I've been fighting since '98, fighting forever, a lot of it is just that I'm not doing my responsibilities like I need to at home. I feel like I'm not being the type of dad I want to. I got four kids and lots of times I feel just an immense sense of guilt for not being there in times when I should. ... This is going to be my last memory right here. I feel like I want to win this fight more than probably I have wanted to win any. I want the people to want more, like, 'Why is he gone? I want him to come back.' That would be my dream for it to end like that." -

Re: UFC on Versus 5 - August 14 - Hardy v. Lyttle
I had read that he was considering politics and that Lytle is still a full time worker in some other job... it was making it sound like his mind was somewhere else.
Now my Lytle pick is not for sure. I kinda hope Hardy wins now.Comment

Lytle is a firefighter in Indiana I believe......Down there in Indianappolis. But anyway I don't blame him for retiring, he almost 40 years old, fought for over a decade.
Might as well get out while you still have your health and no major damage to your body. Besides he set for life.
With his UFC experience and knowledge, he will have no problem opening up his own school if he hasn't already and live off of that for the rest of his life training people.Comment

Re: UFC on Versus 5 - August 14 - Hardy v. Lyttle
Pretty pumped up for the fights tonight. I have a feeling this is going to turn out to be one of the best cards of the year.
Decided to do my first every 12 fight parlay (I'm sure the odds are %.00001 that I will actually win).
I have:
Figueroa
Volkmann
Miller
Caceres
Vemola
Noke
Benavidez
Hamman
Sadollah
Oliveira
Miller
Lytle
I also made 2 individual bets on Miller and Volkmann winning the fights.Comment

I think your picks are solid, but I see CB beating HammanCincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals

Re: UFC on Versus 5 - August 14 - Hardy v. Lyttle
Your picks look good except for Bruce Leeroy.
Bruce Leeroy is a pretty big underdog and he got choked out the last time he fought. The guy who he's fighting today has most of his wins by submission as well..
I'm torn between Lytle - Hardy. Lytle is retiring after this fight, win or lose. It would be awesome to see him go out with a win, but at the exact same time, Dan Hardy would probably be cut if he loses and I like Hardy.Comment

There's always at least 1 or 2 upsets on every card, so I'm hoping Leeroy is one of them.Comment
