    Re: UFC 137: Diaz v. Penn - Oct 27.

I watched WEC through it's entire Versus run, and always thought they're 155ers weren't as good as the UFC's. I was way wrong there, those guys have come in and taken out some of the best LW's in the UFC. Good stuff, I'm a big fan of Cerrone and Bendo and both are leading that charge.

Bendo over Jim Miller shocked me. I'm a big Jim Miller fan and never expected him to lose that, still though good for Bendo. He's a cool guy, I hope he works his way to a title shot.

I'm having a tough time deciding who I want to bet on between Penn and Diaz. Right now the lines are: -120 Penn and -110 Diaz. Unless these guys are fighting GSP or Fitch, you're not going to get better odds for either fighter.

I'm a much bigger Diaz fan but I have a hard trusting guys that don't rack up their wins in the UFC. Shields has dropped 2 out of 3 since coming over from Strikeforce and Jorge Santiago was dominated in both of his fights and has been released.

I think Penn is the safer pick. I'm interested to see the Prop Bets on this fight since I might just put money on Penn and Diaz by decision. I don't see either guy getting finished.

I only see Diaz being finished, if it happens.
I got Penn winning, but if it is a 5 round fight like Diaz wanted that might be a problem.
Penn was better wrestling and BJJ, and more power. Diaz is just so tough though. He took Daley's best shots then finished him.

I see Penn winning this one easily. Then that makes the WW division very interesting. Lets say GSP beats Condit, I see him vacating and moving up for a Superfight with Silva (if Silva beats Sonnen). Then the UFC books Penn/Fitch 2 or Penn/Ellenberger for the vacant belt.

I could see that. I also believe that he will beat Diaz, but I could see Diaz getting a SD. I could see Penn/Fitch 2 OR Penn/Koscheck if GSP moves up, plus a fight like Rumble/Ellenberger or Ellenberger/Macdonald for the next title shot.

It looks like there's a better chance of GSP fighting at 155 than 185.

Zahabi was on the Beatdown podcast yesterday and he said he recommends GSP move down if Edgar isn't the champ. He only weighs around 183/184 pds right now.

I would still rather see him face Silva than anybody at 155.

They have enough time to make a fight for a vacant belt? I thought GSP was gonna fight in FEB?

Also, I give Penn the slight edge in this one if you put a gun to my head but I would be shocked if Penn won easily. In a five round fight, I would give the honest edge to Diaz.

No he is saying if GSP beats Condit, he could move up.

                          OMG

School has absolutely ravaged my brain

Ugh I would so much rather see Jones fight Silva than GSP, and I also think Jones makes a lot more sense match up wise. Unfortunately LHW has so many contenders it's probably never going to happen.

Maybe a dominating performance by GSP against a MW contender would win me over. But I really think he's too small to do anything.

Dana wants a fight at Cowboys Stadium or at one of Brazil's 100,000 seat stadiums and only one fight would work there....GSP v. Silva. I tend to think GSP would be a little more successful then you think against Silva but Dana would make this fight for money reasons alone.

You think he could make that cut comfortably?

His trainer says 170 is an easy cut for him so I think he can do it. In the past year GSP has cut back on weight lifting and doing a lot of gymnastics. As long as he had enough time to also change his diet, I think dropping to 155 could be easy.

I don't think it's the right business decision though. There isn't a single big fight at 155 for him unless he really wants the belt in both divisions. The biggest money maker for GSP and the UFC is to fight Silva at 185.
