I think Dana is just playing his role. We all know he is prone to change his mind rather quickly, 180 degrees if things fall into place, and the fans are clamoring.

For now Dana is smart for saying Jones needs to clear out the division. There's no need to concede anything at this point. No need to make a circus out of his company. People need to respect the weight classes and understand that there is a rightful process for a title fight.

Jones has only made one title defense in one of the best divisions in the organization, Dana is absolutely correct in taking this stance.

With all that said, I could definitely see Dana giving serious thought to a dream fight if Jones destroys Evans and Anderson gets yet another victory at MW either over Chael or someone else.

There many arguments to be made for such a scenario. Even if Jones would have only made two title defenses.

One thing is for sure, Silva would have nothing to lose if the fight did take place. If he loses, it is because he is old, if he wins, he will go down as the greatest of all time. No arguments.

Doesn't have to be a title fight.

i would agree with that if we saw signs of Anderson's age starting to play a factor. But right now people consider him the best P4P fighter in the sport so it doesn't matter how old he is, if he's considered the best P4P fighter the expectations of him are to win everytime.

Although I don't think the Jones/Silva fight will actually ever happen, I do think Jones has a better chance of beating Silva than anybody in the middleweight division. More likely to see a GSP/Silva superfight.
