Re: UFC on Fox - Velasquez v. Dos Santos - Nov 12: 9pm EST
Uh, sure. I never said either Brock, Cain or Machida was unbeatable though.
I did however claim Jones and JDS would be at the top for a while. Both of these guys have complete skill sets and can negate what their foes can offer up.
Brock has huge holes in his skill set. Cain is a beast, and I think he's JDS' only legit contender, so I give him a lot of props.Comment

Are the numbers in yet for the TV ratings for this?
I know Dana said before the fight that he hoped it would go a couple of rounds.Comment

Probably not until Monday. Even if the fight was short, I think the numbers will outperform the first Kimbo Slice event and set a new MMA record.Comment

Jones and JDS have nothing to do with Brock and Cain and Machida. And I really doubt too many people were claiming Cain was unbeatable. Seems like on message boards more people had JDS winning this.
Brock and Machida should never have been touted in that way. I think we've all had this discussion more than twice now on OS.
JDS and Jones have legit reasons as to why they would be champ for a while. Obviously nobody is unbeatable, but I do think that both of these guys have a great chance at retaining their belts for a while.Comment

Seen this from Paste Padre on twitter:
"UFC on Fox got 4.6 million viewers (2.4 rating in 18-34 demo). Disappointing numbers. Cops, which aired before it, had more viewers."Originally posted by MoJust once I'd like to be the one they call a jerk off.Originally posted by MoYou underestimate my lazinessOriginally posted by Mo**** ya

No way. I refuse to believe Cops outdrew the first UFC event on national TV. Especially with the way it was promoted.Originally posted by slickdtcI'd ride his bus, that's all I'm saying.

Here's a deeper look into the ratings
-Kimbo Slice did better on CBS [didn't have any competition though]
+Got about the same rating as the Stanford/Oregon game in the ages 18-49 demographic
+Since fight only lasted a minute, it could have skewed the numbers a bit

Re: UFC on Fox - Velasquez v. Dos Santos - Nov 12: 9pm EST
Overall I think it's fairly clear as to how FOX shows can improve
1. Have more fights
2. Get Dana out of the booth, unless he's strictly going to be doing analysis. Nobody wants to see the freaking president hype up his own company
I thought Dana did an awful job last night, especially after the fight. Dude surprised me, usually he's pretty spot on with his assessments.
He really acted as if Cain could have used more wrestling. The fight lasted for 60 seconds. LMAO. Dana really made it seem like Cain lost as opposed to JDS winning.Comment

Re: UFC on Fox - Velasquez v. Dos Santos - Nov 12: 9pm EST
Yeah they definitely need to bring in some guys to do the pre and post fight shows. Last night was all Dana hyping the fight, and Brock talking about getting his rematch with Cain. Maybe they should bring in 1 former fighter and 1 reporter type guy, like Ariel Helwani, or someone.Originally posted by slickdtcI'd ride his bus, that's all I'm saying.

Dana and Brock looked very uncomfortable and nervous. Dana, who's always in the spot light, he surprised me. And I figured if nothing else, Brock would be ok w/ the WWE spotlight he used to have on him.Originally posted by MoJust once I'd like to be the one they call a jerk off.Originally posted by MoYou underestimate my lazinessOriginally posted by Mo**** ya

Re: UFC on Fox - Velasquez v. Dos Santos - Nov 12: 9pm EST
If Dana stays in the broadcast, I don't think he'll have the same "salesman" slant as he did last night. It just surprised me that he would say "why didn't Cain go for the take down more?"
Bro if you blinked you would have missed the ending.
Anyway, re-watched the Bendo/Guida fight. Wasn't as exciting the second time around. A lot of clinching, up against the fence and only a couple of clean shots landed. Was a grind. I'm happy that we're gonna see a different style of fighting with Frankie.Comment
