Questions are good! Stat decay is gone, you can lose skill rating by doing training that has nothing to do with a certain category but it's all user controlled. For instance doing transition sparring could up your cardio but drop you a point or two in strength. It shows you all this before you start the training exercise, but there's nothing that goes down just because like in 2010.

Re: Official UFC Undisputed 3 Impressions Thread
Anyone play a great ground fighter vs a poor one and noticed if the new stats work or not?
I was doing a car before bed just to see and I noticed top and bottom off and def stats now. Remembered a fight earlier where the tip said to keep it up because my opp was passing my blocks, but didn't think much at the time.
Anyone noticed if they work? That'd be a huge improvement.Comment

Re: Official UFC Undisputed 3 Impressions Thread
Career has been a challenge for me! I created this big heavy and rushed him to the UFC... Worst mistake ever as I fought one guy and after I knocked him down I jumped into his guard and got tapped. After 4 fights I had no business being in the UFC lol as I'm now 4-4 with being tapped all 4 times...Comment

Re: Official UFC Undisputed 3 Impressions Thread
I fought several fights last night against the CPU since the servers are kinda of jacked up right now.
Man Nick Diaz is a BEAST!!!! You can control just about anyone on the ground with him and be a force in the stand up. He is the complete package! I guess going the condit route would be best route to beat him. Someone with a higher foot speed to work the legs and body while getting out of danger.
Another fight I had was Kampmann(me) vs Penn(cpu)
I was dominating in the stand up game and Penn was taking notice by the end of the first round. He quit trying to strike with me and just started looking for the take down. Problem arose when he got it, I could not get off my back. He would control the ground game and almost caught me in couple submissions.
I ended up losing this fight my a split decision to Penn.
The thing most impressive to me is how much ratings FINALLY matter this year!
I started my career last night. I am liking the new interface, alot easier to handle.Comment

Great ground fighters are a pain to deal with. They are hard to get off and pass more often.
Poor ground fighters you will be able to get to the feet almost instantly a lot of times.
Great strikers will dodge, stay out of range, and are much more dangerous.
Poor strikers are slower to get off the first strikes and eat more shots.
Great clinch fighters can pin you against the cage and control the fight, while you struggle to get out of the situations
Poor clinch fighters won't be able to hold you for very long.
Great submission guys bars are bigger and move around the circle a lot faster.
Poor submission guys have a small bar and it moves around the circle slower.Comment

Re: Official UFC Undisputed 3 Impressions Thread
I just had my best fight so far! I was Faber against Zhang in a 3 Round fight. He had me rocked in the 1st. 2nd round I stuck to more of a wrestling approach and took him off his feet so I could GnP. 3rd round I just came out slugging and got the TKO 27seconds in to the round. This is one of the 1st matches that I noticed the CPUs' stamina was lower then mine. I think thie game was easily worth the $60.00!PS3, we had a good run! (7/18/09-10/5/14)Comment

Re: Official UFC Undisputed 3 Impressions Thread
I just noticed that xbox has taken down the gamestop fighters DLC and the knockouts pack(still don't really know what that was). Glad i went ahead and got the gamestop guys before they was taken down. Diaz is a monster on this game and Davis is very good himself.
Still need a Reem code. If anybody has an extra one please PM it to me.Comment

Re: Official UFC Undisputed 3 Impressions Thread
Yeah Overeem is just nasty
89 Punch Power
89 Kick Power
92 Clinch strikes power
82 submission offense
88 punch defense
88 kick defense
81 reach 6'5
Built like a well rounded tank. If any of his punches or kicks land clean on you, you going to be rocked.
I did manage to beat him with Dos Santos though. Take him down and do some damage on him. He checks kicks pretty well and often.Comment

Before I left for work this morning I checked to see if all my online options were functional and I'm happy to say for me it's working now.

Re: Official UFC Undisputed 3 Impressions Thread
loving this game.
offline matches against the brother have been epic with most ending in decisions. I have secured subs when they he was beat up but they are far easier to secure when you get your opponent in the stun state.
Playing on ultimate is freaking hard but not impossible, I'm about .500 - I love the challenge though. I don't want to just beat on the CPU which is how it was in 2010 expert. The AI is much more varied and you have to feint and change your combos or you'll get battered and countered all day.
I was getting a little upset with the reversals on Ultimate but then I read this (which is stickied on the THQ forums) and it cleared the air and I've made vast improvements:
This is straight from Senior Designer Wes Bunn. He's unable to jump on here right now and he wanted me to post this up for you guys.
"On the harder difficulty settings, you’re going to have to utilize all the advanced techniques in order to be successful. You’ll have to Feint Strikes to get the AI to react so you can land a follow up strike, not only that, the AI is also susceptible to strike canceling (strike button followed by a the RB which cancels the strike).<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o></o
>
On the ground where some appear to be having troubles, you’ll need to transition feint and stall your transitions. If you are just transitioning repeatedly, the AI will notice this and counter you, mix up your timing with performing transitions. Not only that, pay attention to the AI’s movements. Often times you can see them perform a transition reversal attempt as they will play a flinching animation, try to perform a transition after this as it’s easier to be successful at.<o></o

I’ve seen some pick it up, but successfully blocking or swaying then immediately transitioning afterwards greatly improves your success rate. Remember, minor transitions are easier to pull off than major and technique transitions. Also, you can try to “reverse to advance” by countering the AI’s transition attempts (careful though cause the AI will also transition feint against you).<o></o
>
<o> </o
>
As for submissions, punch-catch submissions, submissions when your opponent’s energy is low, and submissions from rocked positions greatly increase your ability to finish. If you are having trouble with the submission game, try to predict the AI’s movement on the HUD. If you feel they are going to switch directions, often times, I will go the other direction (opposite the AI’s bar) instead of trying to follow them around and they will end up running right back into you. Also, don’t over commit while trying to overlap on the HUD. As long as you are overlapped you are tipping the tug-of-war in your favor.<o></o
>
<o> </o
>
One final note about the AI on the harder difficulty settings, it is intended to be hard so don’t think you will steam roll them every time. On Ultimate, I would say that I’m have a 70-30 or 60-40 win ratio and will get beat by being predictive or over anxious with my tactics. Be patient, and mix things up and as one said, practice."<o></o

a little further down in the same thread this is the discussion on transition stalling, in case people aren't sure what to do:
Stalling is done by using pro controls, and going down, pausing, then around to finish out the transition with your right stick.Comment
