I don't know if it's intentional or not, but sometimes whenever someone gets knocked to the ground (not rocked), on the way day, it slows down and into the first punch and then everything clears up.

I also think, like someone mentioned earlier, that the "Fighter of the Year"and all that is random as well. I finished second this last year to Frank Mir, whom I defeated by knock out while defending the Championship.. and also won Pride. I think it may have been because I moved weight classes though.

Re: Official UFC Undisputed 3 Impressions Thread

Just had an all out war between A. Silva (me) and Marquardt in my MW tournament final. 48-47 UD, I was almost certain I was going to lose it, was letting him take me down way too often. Both of us narrowly escaped two or three submission attempts. Possibly the most intense game/match of any sports game I've ever played.

And now I've got my LHW final of Jones/Hendo. I'm not sure I can handle another match like that.

edit: Certainly couldn't. Got wrecked, KO'd in the 2nd by Hendo.

One down side of random tournament mode is it put both Pride and UFC Henderson and W.Silva.

Re: Official UFC Undisputed 3 Impressions Thread

So I finally got my copy yesterday. My impressions and couple of questions that I hope someone will answer/comment. Thanks

                  * Still not simulation but better than 2010. Disappointed that CPU charges too much. When I tried the demo, I think CPU wasn't that aggressive

                  * You can't hold CPU down when you get him down, I mean CPU kicks you up right away, has anyone else noticed this? This one bothers me the most + too much reversals. Is there a way to hold CPU down or do you just have to immediately transition you position?

                  * Is it just me or is the gameplay faster than before?

                  * Didn't have time for many fights yesterday but tried between Advanced/Simulation and Expert/Simulation settings and while in Advanced, every fight went to desicion and CPU didn't get me rocked even once. Those of you who play advanced, has CPU been able to rock you? I ask because advanced would be perfect for me right now but would like to see some close situations. In Expert I got rocked and smashed too easily. Maybe it's just me to find the right difficulty level

                  * I wish they would have left Pride mode out and add more UFC fighters. Pride mode is great addition if they would've added "all" UFC fighters first.

What makes it awful imo is that it take you away from the game/action.

Little update on my Pat Healy career on advanced/sim, I've gotten up to 18 or 19-2 I can't remember because I'm not in front of it. I have him up to a 80 overall. Last 3 fights I've fought Joe Daddy, Gomi, and Guida. Joe Daddy's Superman jab is sneaky as piss.

I really felt I was losing the Joe Daddy fight with about a minute left I got mount and was able to rock him and finish him. Fight of the year winner. Next fight was with Gomi....what a pain in the *** he is. Heavy hands and his grappling is good. I had a lot of top control but he rocked me a few times thought I lost it. Especially when after the fight I got the cut scene where he celebrates and my guy kind of mopes. 29-28 on all cards Healy and a legit celebration breaks out in my living room.

Guida and I traded takedowns but neither did much with them. I ended up getting the better in the stand-up and ended up TKO'ing him in the third.

Definitely a challenge everytime out and I'm not looking forward to getting up to Edgar. Especially since I'm trying to keep his skills realistic. It's going to be tough!

                          Initial Impressions :
a.) Any downside of using amateur grappling rather than pro? Do you miss out on anything, because the pro control is either too unresponsive or I don't know how to do it worth a lick. I think it's both .

b.) CPU comes at you, and I either jab my *** off to get them off or I get my punches canceled out by their steady 3 power punches in a row.

c.) How the hell do you get online? I've bought the game but have yet to redeem my code, I've been able to see the user agreement once - but no where to put in the code. It shows it locked? Poorly layed out. Tells me to connect to PS Network to get the season pass... I am connected to the PS Network and I still can't get online, Seriously, how the hell? EDIT : Got it, you have to do it directly from PS Store redeem code.

d.) Seem to spend more time waiting on load screens, connecting screens (at startup although I can't find online) or after match mandatory cutscenes rather than playing (on PS3). The amount of waiting, and screens to go through and waiting is just a little overboard to the degree it almost makes me second guess picking this up.

Initial impression : Wish the demo gave me 3 rounds or full fight and I could have saved $60, I'm not too happy right now after about 3 hours of playing. This could change, but it's an initial impression for someone that may be in similar shoes and debating about picking this up in which case having started it up, I would have waited until a price drop.
You cannont fake or stall transitions with amateur, on higher difficulties, or against a decent opponent online you WILL be reversed frequently. with pro minor transitions have do be done from straight up or straight down there is very little wiggle room before it becomes a major, or no input. also you do get a free minor transition after blocking or swaying if done fast enough. But your opponents strong strikes will cancel your transitions. these are all things to consider.

Really? For me it's the exact opposite. On the demo the CPU pressed forward and just threw wildly. On the real game, I'm seeing some major differences in AI.

I completely disagree with this. If you have a good ground fighter with good top control ratings. I can keep the CPU down almost the entire round. I suggest just learning the game more. I promise you it is possible, you just have to get better and understand how the ground game works.

I've had entire rounds where I held the CPU down. I did it yesterday with Faber against Aldo. You have to learn how to transition block, transition feint and not spam transitions. The ground game is strategic. You have to know when to transition block, when to throw punches and when to go for transition. If you rush it, you will get reversed on kicked off.

Ive been rocked several times on Advanced sim. It happens a lot depending on the fighters.

I'm happy with the Pride fighters. Honestly, they are only missing 5-6 fighters who I would like to see (Bonner, Barbosa, Hendricks, Ellenberger). I'd rather have Jens Pulver than Ronnie Markes or Aaron Simpson.
