Re: UFC 145 - Jon "Bones" Jones Vs Rashad Evans, April 21
So far in his last few fights he's created the A.Silva effect imo. where dudes are second guessing themselves before the fight even starts. Rashad's commentary during the Rampage fight was right on "you can't wait" ... but let's see if he walks the walk during the fight.
I think Rashad can beat him - of course it's a fight. If he even lets himself get picked apart from the outside for any significant amount of time - it's over. Unlike Silva, I think JJ's can be wobbled much easier - so in a sense, bum-rush him and hit him early!!!! ... otherwise, it will be 'show-time' lol
The mental game is amazing to me. At this elite level you can clearly see when someone truly believes in themselves.
so pappy? will JJ respect rashad???? lolLiquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

he is H-U-G-E ... even since joining the UFC he's put on a lot of muscle mass. JJ could def fight at heavy if he wanted to. Like everyone else I'm interested to see how this plays out.

I think your breakdown of the fight is spot on though. Jon Jones is an amazing fighter, but his bully tactics aren't going to work this time. Rashad via TKO.
I just saw Evans and Jones on the set of Inside the NBA and Rashad looked so tiny standing next to all of those guys. More the reason to respect Rashad. He's been the giant killer ever since his days of vanquishing opponents like the mighty Brad Imes. It was a pretty hilarious segment and kind of cool that Shaq knew who Hong Man Choi was.Last edited by Pappy Knuckles; 04-20-2012, 04:14 AM.Comment

Re: UFC 145 - Jon "Bones" Jones Vs Rashad Evans, April 21
Random question but I haven't watched a PPV in awhile. I was wondering since this is a 9 PM start time, around what time would Rashad/Bones go down? Close to 11 or 11:30 right? Obviously it depends on how long the other fights go for as well.
I ask because I have to work tomorrow night (the reason I've fallen out of touch with the UFC for the past while) but want to try and catch Bones knock Rashad the F out before I work at 11.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Re: UFC 145 - Jon "Bones" Jones Vs Rashad Evans, April 21
Its a 10PM PPV start. They have 6 fights on the main card, so if every fight went about 15 mins with walkouts, etc, it won't start until 11:30. Most likely the fight will start between 11:30 - 12:00.Comment

It'll be interesting to see what type of numbers this card does. I can't remember seeing this many commercials for a UFC PPV before.Comment

Man I am so tempted to bet on Rashad with these crazy odds but I just can't get past Jones 100% take down defense . .. does any body here think that Shad can beat him on the feet? I don't - somebody convince me otherwiseComment

Re: UFC 145 - Jon "Bones" Jones Vs Rashad Evans, April 21
Well every fighter has a punchers chance. So if Shad connects one good time then yeah he could KO Jones. But the thing is though he has to connect. Machida connected one good time and wobbled Jones.
I am more interested in the wrestling aspect. If Shad can keep Jones down. I have no doubt he can take him down, but can he control him, is the actual question.Comment

Re: UFC 145 - Jon "Bones" Jones Vs Rashad Evans, April 21
yeah i think the only way shad can win is to get this fight to the ground - Im interested in how this plays out - I wonder if Shad surprises Jones and aggressively pushes the pace or if it starts out really slow and measured, Im inclined to think slow and measured but it'll be interesting to see what the game plans are. cant waitComment

Re: UFC 145 - Jon "Bones" Jones Vs Rashad Evans, April 21
Lmao. Jon Jones has given me no reason to believe that he will respect Rashad in this fight, but that will be his downfall. Rashad isn't going to fall into a trance while Jones does his work. As long as he keeps moving and jumps on his opportunities he will come out victorious. Saturday is going to be a glorious night for Rashad fans worldwide.
My head tells me that Jon Jones will win the fight. I think he's too big, too strong, and Rashad has shown a questionable chin in the past. I'm not just saying that because of the Machida fight either, he was dropped by a dead tired Rampage and nearly KO'd by a dead tired Thiago Silva. I don't think he has a bad chin, he just doesn't have a particularly strong chin. Jon hits very hard from all angles and his reach is just unbelievable.
However, the bias in me as a huge fan of Rashad's leads me to pick him to win. Rashad is the first guy to fight Jon Jones that has the style to pose problems for him with his incredible wrestling, quickness, and KO power. The only glaring disadvantage for Rashad is his size, as many have pointed out Jon could fight at HW comfortably while Rashad could do the same at MW. I think it might be best for Rashad to fight with a wrestling-centric gameplan, getting in close and trying to bully Jones around and look for big shots against the fence. Josh Koscheck does that better than anyone, but I think Rashad should mix it up more and not try to turn it into a boxing match. Rampage tried that against Jon, and he was dominated.
I can't wait for this fight. It feels like years in the making since Rashad has been the top contender for so long. I'm rooting for Rashad and believe he can win this fight, but regardless it's always fun to watch two of the all-time greats duke it out. Both guys are outstanding.Kenny Bell with quote of the year: "I would play for Bo Pelini against Satan himself and a team of demons at the gates of the underworld."Comment

Tons of fighters and "talent" at the weighins. Seen Hendo, Bendo, Chael and the Korean zombie in the span of 15 minutes. Seen a ton of groupies too. You know a sport is starting to get mainstream when the groupies come.Comment

Jones is talking to Brian Stann and Karyn like a destroyer of souls. His confidence is on another level right now.Comment
