Re: The Official Bellator Thread
I think Bader is the rightful favorite. He's been on point lately. Mitrione has a good punchers chance however.
That KO by Nallo was very fun. Similar to Barboza v Dariush.Comment

Re: The Official Bellator Thread
Bader vs Sonnen is interesting...ish. Only cause Sonnen does have that A-tier offensive wrestling and top game. Sonnen can stifle almost anyone with that, but the holes in his game - particularly his heart, and willingness to fight through submissions/hardships - make him hard to wholeheartedly believe in. On one hand, he CAN 30-27 nearly any man who walks the planet... but on the other hand, he can tap to a half-assed choke attempt from Tito Ortiz. So you never know.
Don’t be mistaken though... Sonnen does still got it. He still has that 97 takedown offense, clinch grapple, top game and grapple stamina. He’s just got a few 60s and 70s you gotta watchout for. In his prime - which was basically his run at MW that culminated in his first Silva fight - he didnt have “stats” below 85, aside from submission defense. Hell even his striking was respectable relative to the rest of the MW division.
Nowadays, he’s lost a lot of skills, but that offensive wrestling is still there. I believe he’s capable of another shocking performance or two, it’s just a matter of whether he’s willing to take this MMA thing seriously anymore. And I’m not talking a decision win over some washed up Fedor or Wandy. I mean I think he can still beat active fighters currently ranked in the top 10, at HW or LHW. It’s just a matter of the right matchup, and coming in focused.
It’s always questionable when he faces a wrestler though. Sometimes it works to his advantage - it’s as if he punishes his opponent for daring challenge his wrestling. Other times, it’s like Sonnen rolls over and says “Ok, you’re the better wrestler, let’s get this over with”. Against Okami and Marquardt - two good grapplers (especially Okami) - he completely dominated. Okami was the king at grinding guys to 29-28 decisions... and Sonnen dominated him in what was at the time the most entertaining and one-sided wrestling domination in MMA. I’m talking suplexes, constant takedowns, the whole nine yards. But then against Rashad, Jones and Tito, it was like he wrestled a year in high school (though I guess we can pardon the Jones loss). So again, as is always the case with Chael P Sonnen... you never know.Xbox GT: the relaxed guyComment

Re: The Official Bellator Thread
Oh and as far as Bader vs Mitrione, that was a pretty ridiculous matchup on Bellator’s end. Definitely a mismatch.
Bader’s a legit, A tier, top 5 LHW. Left the UFC 8-1 in his last 9. He’s in his prime and could beat anyone outside the top few elites.
Whereas Mitrione’s hardly C tier. Only reason he’s that good is cause he trains hard and is somewhat fast. Unlike Bader, he was cut - and for good reason. He was losing to guys like B Schaub and Rothwell.
Not sure why this had to be the main event. Whenever you can comfortably bet your entire life savings on the outcome of a fight, it’s bad match-making. Anyone with a brain knew Bader would just outwork Mitrione in a hard-to-watch, ugly mismatch.Xbox GT: the relaxed guyComment

Fedor vs Chael is a good preview if Fedor wins for the title. Fedor has power and defense to stop the takedown, but doesn't have the gas anymore. Chael won't threaten Fedor with strikes or gas tank either, but he could wrestle him. If Fedor stops the early takedowns, Chael folds and moves on.
Bader has to be the favorite to win with the fighters left.

Re: The Official Bellator Thread
Big Country doesn't look like he is even training anymore. What a waste of talent because he wanted to be fat.
I'm surprised he continued in the fight after it looked like he took a dive after the foul was called. I was expecting him to quit and take the much needed win.

Re: The Official Bellator Thread
I’d favor Chael. I think his wrestling and conditioning gets it done. I also think Chael’s chin is less deteriorated than Fedors. Chael ate shots from Wandy and Rampage, while Fedor seems to drop from almost everything that touches his head.Last edited by Good Grappler; 10-13-2018, 02:10 PM.Xbox GT: the relaxed guyComment
