Re: UFC 151 - Jones vs. Hendo - Sept 1 - Vegas
Another one falls for it, ha. Dudes can't help but to buy into the trolling. More tweets in the link.
"Sure, I could go up to 205, and I could take Jon Jones' belt away the same as I could take away his candy on Halloween," Sonnen said, as he announced his Dec. 29 bout with Forrest Griffin. "Like a little punk kid, I could snatch it away all I want."
On Wednesday, Jones took the bait. The champion, who is training for his Sept. 1 title defense against Dan Henderson, fired back at Sonnen with three tweets, kicking off a chain reaction.
"The things you say about me hold absolutely no weight," tweeted Jones. "You disrespected Anderson [Silva] and his country but fought like a child."
Two more tweets rapidly followed: "If you're going to disrespect me, at least disrespect me to my face like a man," Jones tweeted. A minute later, he followed up with another tweet, which apparently referenced Sonnen's California and Nevada commission suspensions. "And you call me a punk, I'm more man than you'll ever be. #Coward #Cheater."Comment

Re: UFC 151 - Jones vs. Hendo - Sept 1 - Vegas
The thing that makes Chael an outstanding troll is his intellect and his delivery.
He will talk his way into a title fight against Jon Jones. He will probably beat Forrest (Forrest has self-admitted that he has no real motivation anymore) and then I could see him getting a good matchup stylistically (let's say Shogun if he manages to beat the Mauler) and that would be enough for a title fight. Hell, maybe Forrest alone might be enough for a title fight because once again it doesn't matter who "deserves" title fights, but who can make the most money and Sonnen - Jones would be marketable.
Chael P. would get absolutely massacred though. But, he would certainly make a lot of money in the process.Comment

Re: UFC 151 - Jones vs. Hendo - Sept 1 - Vegas
The ironic thing is, it really wouldn't even be that hard to troll Chael right back. There's so much ammo out there, it wouldn't even require a great deal of humor or wit.Comment

Re: UFC 151 - Jones vs. Hendo - Sept 1 - Vegas
I disagree. Everyone has hit him with the "cheater" "criminal" "cant block subs" lines but none of them have the wit to pull it off. A guy like Bisping could pull that off. Thats why Chael didnt say much about him in the lead up to the fight.Comment

They're not really trolling though, they're speaking out of anger more than anything.
Trolling is an art, but I don't think it would even take a great deal of wit to do it successfully. Chael should be one of the last people to troll such guys as Jon Jones, Machida, Anderson, Rampage, etc. etc. There doesn't seem to be many trollers in MMA though.Comment

Jones not too excited about a rematch with Machida.
UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones told ESPN.com on Friday that he does not want to have a rematch with Lyoto Machida. Jones is scheduled to make the fourth defense of his title on Sept. 1 against Dan Henderson at UFC 151 in Las Vegas. He is favored to win the fight against Henderson.
UFC president Dana White stated earlier this month that Machida would face the Jones-Henderson winner. White made the announcement after Machida registered a second-round knockout of Ryan Bader on Aug. 4 in Los Angeles.
"I don't want to fight Lyoto Machida," Jones said. "He was my lowest pay-per-view draw of last year."
"No one wants to see me fight Lyoto Machida. I don't want to fight Lyoto again. Lyoto is high risk and low reward."
"He's a tough fighter, but no one wants to buy that fight."
"Between (Mauricio) Shogun (Rua), (Quinton) Rampage (Jackson) and Rashad (Evans), Lyoto was my lowest draw. Why would I want to fight someone where it's a lose-lose situation? I won't make money on it. And he's a tricky fighter."
Jones (16-1) submitted Machida on Dec. 10, 2011, with a second-round standing guillotine. When asked if he will agree to fight Machida again if asked by UFC officials to do so, Jones was noncommittal.
"I don't even know," Jones said. "I don't know how to answer that right now."
Before Jones opened up about facing Machida for a second time, he strongly emphasized his attention is squarely on Henderson.
"I don't think it's appropriate to be talking about fighting anybody but Dan Henderson," Jones said. "I'm clearly focused on Dan Henderson. I'm not overlooking Dan."Comment

Re: UFC 151 - Jones vs. Hendo - Sept 1 - Vegas
Jones has his reasons, but from my perspective and I'm sure many others, I just don't want to see him rematch any of the recent contenders he's already defeated. I really wish Dana wouldn't have gone the route he did.Comment
