Re: 25 Ways to Make the EA UFC Game the Best MMA Game Ever

If he was in negotiations with the UFC to possibly be in their new game they wouldn't be negotiating with him if he was still under another contract.

So far EVERYTHING i've read says his contract was up before UFC Undisputed 3. The only thing i've seen or heard saying his contract wasn't up is you saying some people you know at THQ said it wasn't.

The next installment of the "UFC Undisputed" video game series could include a major addition to its fighter roster.Former UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight champion Randy Couture recently told ESPN.

The next installment of the "UFC Undisputed" video game series could include a major addition to its fighter roster.

Former UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight champion Randy Couture recently told ESPN.com it's likely he'll be an available character in future versions of the THQ-manufactured game, after being a notable exception in its past two releases.

During a contract dispute with the UFC in 2008, Couture signed a deal with EA Sports to be featured in its mixed martial arts game, which was released in October. Couture, alongside Russian heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko, appeared on the game's cover.

The contract with EA Sports further prevented him from appearing in the 2009 and 2010 version of "UFC Undisputed," even though he resumed fighting for the promotion before the games were released. With that deal now expired, according to Couture, he's available to make his debut in the THQ game.

“We’ve talked about me being in the video game this time around,” Couture said. “Obviously, all that stuff with EA Sports happened in a transition period, before I came back [to the UFC.]

“That deal is over now and the [THQ] game is getting ready to come out with a new version. Obviously, they’d still like to include me, me being a guy in their Hall of Fame. It’s certainly something we’re looking at trying to work out and I think it will probably happen.”

UFC president Dana White confirmed to ESPN.com via text message that discussions have taken place with Couture, however no official deal has been reached.

"We do not have a deal with Randy yet," White said.

An official release date has not been announced for the newest version of the game. It's expected the date will be in early 2012, despite previous editions being released in May.

Couture, 47, has announced his intent to retire from the sport following his upcoming fight this weekend against Lyoto Machida at UFC 129 in Toronto.

Although Couture has had his grievances with the UFC in the past, he said he's retiring under good terms with the promotion. News of his expected appearance in the video game testifies to that.

"I think both Zuffa [parent company of the UFC] and myself have come to a much stronger relationship," Couture said. "We have a better understanding of each other and they've left me alone to do my thing while I still comply with rules and regulations they set forth for other fighters."

Its pretty simple: Couture thought his EA deal was complete. UFC/THQ started negotiating with him to include him in the game because he is the only person with a Zuffa contract who hasn't signed over his video game rights.. They discovered that technically his EA deal wasn't done. THQ attempted to negotiate with EA but wasn't able to come to an agreement.

You can keep quoting the same ESPN article but that doesn't contradict what I'm saying. I've been saying the whole time that Randy thought his deal was done but it wasn't.

It doesn't matter though because the only reason this debate started was because of that ridiculous statement you made before about the UFC blackballing Couture from its games.

i actually keep quoting different articles. I keep providing tangible evidence from people saying his contract with EA was up and the only thing you have to back what you say is 2 people you say you know that worked at THQ. Ok well i know 2 other people who worked at THQ who said he wasn't under contract with EA anymore... see how that works?

And the comment about the UFC was in jest because of how Dana reacted to people joining EA's game where he said if they joined EA's game they will never be allowed in the UFC. Now we all know he didn't hold true to his word but it just shows how petty Dana can be.

At this point i'm done arguing. You aren't going to change your opinion and i'm just going to keep going by the evidence i've seen so the 2 of us are just going to go back & forth saying the same thing.

yea it's a dream but again, its a UFC game not a MMA game in general. Shamrock, Couture, Arlovski are all possibilities because they have been in the UFC but there is 0 chance Fedor will be in a UFC game.
