Alistair Overeem is on a two fight losing streak. Frank Mir has lost three in a row. The pair will fight at UFC 169 on Superbowl weekend.

UFC president Dana White is on record as saying this is a loser leaves town match. Frank Mir appeared on Monday’s edition of the MMA Hour, and said he wasn't entirely convinced.

"As far as the UFC wanted to release us, I’ve heard the same thing that Dana said absolutely, I find it hard to believe that they’re going to let Alistair to be picked up by another organization," said Mir. "I still think he could sell a ton of tickets. Myself? I keep my opinion to myself on me. I guess I would have to see what I’m selling afterwards."

Mir has no plans to retire, but said if he was released, it would certainly move him in that direction.

"Obviously I have no real desire to fight for another organization, so if I were to be let go that would be a huge step in the form of retirement," said Mir.
It's hard for me to visualize them cutting either guy, but it would be a shame to see Mir fighting somewhere else after being in the UFC for so long. He gets beat up a lot in his fights, but I still enjoy watching him. I hope when he retires that he's able to land a commentator spot or something in the UFC because I enjoyed his work in WEC.

I wouldn't mind seeing Overeem leave because he's sort of becoming more and more a fraud to me. I don't want the UFC associated with that.

Mir on the other hand doesn't have any reason to fight in another organization. I hope he retires with the UFC.

Well its not Jones v. Glover but.....

          Aldo v. Lamas
          and
          Cruz v. Barao

are the top fights on this card.

I understand why he's going straight to a title fight, but I really think Cruz needs to take a fight before fighting Barao. Being out that long, and with his game entirely based on speed and angles, I don't think going up against Barao right away is going to go well.

It sucks for Cruz, because his first fight back is against the best sub 155 guy in the world (in my opinion). Barao has just looked like he is on another level and who knows how Cruz is going to fight after those knee injuries. Movement is a huge part of his game, and if he doesn't move the same he will be in trouble against Renan.

I've always said it, but with those knee injuries and the style that Cruz implements, I just don't see how he'll be the same bouncy, fast-paced fighter. Now maybe he'll reinvent himself a bit but I fear that he won't be the same Cruz we're used to seeing. I feel bad for him if that's the case he seems like a nice guy. It's good that he's an analyst so he has that to fall back on if anything.

Will wait to see how his camp goes but I expect Barao to take this by decision.

I'm not a big fan of Cruz, seems a little into himself. Maybe it's just the clips I see here and there, kinda strikes me as a total "Bro." Anyone who grew up in So Cal knows what I am talking about. Crap, just typing So Cal made me kinda sound like a Bro too, uh oh.

That being said, I don't wish pain and injury on anybody, and quite frankly, I don't see this fight going well for Cruz. I see him getting mopped, embarrassingly so. Probably a brutal KO in rounds 2 or 3. I wish he could have taken a tune-up fight. More so, I wish this fight could have happened without such a long layoff and an injury free Cruz in his prime taking the cage. THAT fight, IMO, would have been great.

Barao is a scary, scary dude.

Cruz is the furthest thing from a bro. He seems like a genuinely humble guy, a very nice guy. Grew up in Tuscon doing all sorts of odd jobs before getting to the big time.

Jaime Varner has replaced Bobby Green to face Abel Trujillo. Disappointed not to see Green in there again, apparently for undisclosed reasons, but happy that they replaced him with the entertaining Varner.

I was shocked that Green was even on the card. That wouldve been his 3rd fight in 3 mos.

Cruz tore his groin and is now out of the fight. He's vacating the belt so Barao is now the BW champion.

Faber is now going to fight Barao for the belt on 3 weeks notice.

The announcement was supposed to be at 4:30 instead they gave us 20 minutes of Tebow before making it lol.

I feel so bad for Cruz. I was excited to see how he looked after all this time off. The title has been held up long enough though, so this is understandable. Sucks.
