HIGHLIGHTS FROM STING MEDIA CALL ON WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON

HIGHLIGHTS FROM STING MEDIA CALL ON WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON

On Wednesday afternoon, new TNA star and wrestling icon Sting took part in a TNA media conference call to discuss this Sunday’s “Final Resolution” Pay-Per-View as well as his thoughts on joining Total Nonstop Action. Below are some of the highlights of the Sting conference call….

    THOUGHTS ON HIS COMEBACK:
According to Sting, it was “now or never” for a return to wrestling and he wanted to go out on his own terms. He wants to leave the world of wrestling the right way, and that includes helping TNA become an even better promotion for fans to watch.

WHY HE DIDN’T GO TO WWE
Sting revealed he had been in ongoing talks with WWE, but that he ultimately settled on joining TNA for a variety of reasons. The WWE’s schedule can be chaotic, and Sting really wanted the opportunity to help TNA and be around his family at the same time.

    FITTING INTO TNA
Sting said the athletes in TNA do things in the ring he has never seen before, and he can’t wait to find his niche on the roster. When asked who in TNA he would like to wrestle, Sting answered AJ Styles and Abyss.

THE MATCH THIS SUNDAY ON PAY-PER-VIEW:
Sting stated he was excited for the match this Sunday – he’s been working out and getting into shape in recent months to prepare for his return. He said he’s looking forward to shaking off the ring rust and getting his hands dirty in the ring. Sting also discussed his tag team partner Christian Cage, who he called “very talented”.

HIS ONE YEAR DEAL WITH TNA:
Sting discussed his one-year deal with TNA Wrestling, saying ideally he would like to wrestle his last match with TNA and walk away on his own terms. However, Sting said there is potential he could continue long-term, but it all depends on how he can hold up against the current crop of stars. He doesn’t want to stand in the way of the youth, but he wants to go out and “deliver the goods” for fans while he still has it.

THE REACTION FROM HIS FAMILY ABOUT HIS RETURN:
Sting said his teenage sons are excited about his return to wrestling for Total Nonstop Action. In the past, his sons had traveled with him on the road with WCW and they are looking forward to seeing him in the ring again.

    HIS LEGACY IN WRESTLING:
After all is said and done in his career, Sting wants to be remembered as someone who found the Lord, straightened his life out and entertained people with integrity. He said he’d like to be remembered as someone who gave back to wrestling because it gave to him.

In addition, Sting spoke about wanting to see TNA on Monday nights, TNA’s X Division, his thoughts on Vince McMahon, the last WCW match against Ric Flair and so much more…

Watch “Final Resolution” this Sunday on Pay-Per-View to see the return of Sting to wrestling as he teams with Christian Cage to face Jeff Jarrett and “The Alpha Male” Monty Brown!

I'm a little worried about Sting wanting to shake the ring rust on a PPV, but other than that he sounds in good spirits and ready to roll in TNA.

I miss Sting. He was my favorite wrestler back in the WCW good days.

        Ah well.

That's one of the reasons why he didn't want to go to the WWE, unlike Shawn Michaels.

unless you know Shawn Michaels personally I think its a little unfair for you to make that stament, but that's just my opinion on the faith and WWE issue.

Shawn Michaels and Sting both come from the same religion. But Sting has refused to go to WWE do to all the sex and everything else that goes on with WWE. So, because they are both the same and are together a lot of the time on TBN talking to the Youth. I would think he would see things similar to Sting. That was all.

Also there is still reports Shawn Michaels is still fighting demons as well. So there is no shot at Michaels. Just going off what I've heard and read was all.

true, I was just thinking that Shawn hasn't really participated in any risky angles since he came back after his spiritual revival.

I found this to be key. This seems to be his final run in the wrestling business, so might as well go out with respect.

Yeah, that's been mentioned a few times now in the past like 3 days or so now. While most of the other stuff that was said was pretty new.

Monday Nights is defenitly NOT the answer. Not now, not 10 years from now. Unless the WWE goes out of business, no one should go against them on Monday Nights. They will eventually be squished like I just squished this bug crawling around my floor.

I'm ready for Sting to bring some guys to the next level. He talks about giving back and it's really refreshing to hear.

Between big things happening on SD, Final Resolution on Sunday and, where presumably big things will happen, RAW on Monday, this shaping up to be a few good days of wrestling. Not Harcore Homecoming/One Night Stand/ROH Weekend big, but big nontheless.
