I'm starting to think that this whole "half-*** ECW" we've been seeing more than half the time is actually part of one huge, brilliant angle . . presenting an ECW that is so repulsive to the hardcore fans, and then having a "renegade" faction or "savior" character come out and drastically improve the product. I doubt this is what's happening, but that would really be a brilliant (and patient) type of angle that we haven't seen before.

It's a third brand for the WWE, you just can't throw people in there and expect the crowd to care. Just because the net loves Punk doesn't mean a bunch of people who came to watch SD are gonna know who he is. The backstage vignettes are a great idea. They're old school and get his character over before he even steps in the ring.

Big Show, Flair, et al are fine for now. You can't build up your young guys in the under card without established guys in your main event. That's what thye provide.

I still cannot get over the fact that, as was said, the former ECW greats (Justin Incredible, Tommy Dreamer, etc.) are nothing but jobbers to WWE guys.

What the hell has Test done to deserve a strong push in ECW? I admit he is strong and not a bad addition but he shouldn't be fighting and destroying the Innovator of Violence.

Another problem is I do NOT see many feuds developing, but that has to do with the hour problem.

And how is it Extreme Championship Wrestling without "extreme" rules for every match. That doesn't make sense to me.

That's brilliant. I watched a little tonight. Caught Credible vs Sabu/Dreamer vs Test. Eh. Sabu getting DQ'd made my heart hurt and Test beating Dreamer also made me wanna just stop watching altogether. However, this savior idea is golden. Although without proper guidance you'll see invasion part 100. Who would be the savior though? Foley? Funk? A returning RVD?

I disagree with you saying Test destroyed Tommy Dreamer. Tommy Dreamer got in about half the offense in the match and Test had to cheat to win. It lets Dreamer get screwed again but not make him look weak.

One thing I will say for this new ECW, they have done a good job of making Sabu, The Sandman, and Tommy Dreamer look important. These guys never got any sort of push in WWF or WCW so in a way they have recreated their stars. People might be pissed off about Justin Credible or whoever, but Justin Credible always sucked anyways.

Do you really think we'll ever see guys like Punk get a real chance? Please. This is nothing more than VKM realizing that he'll land decent enough tv ratings, won't have to pay for another arena or another crew to run the show, and make millions by ****ting on a company's legacy. If this ever becomes watchable or even half of what the old ECW used to be, I'll eat my words. Until then, this is nothing but a way to make easy money.

I'd say that a fed-up Dreamer, a returning RVD, and a pissed off Sabu would lead, backed by Funk as a "manager" type and Foley as an occassional inspirational figure. Throw in Alfonso and Gordon, and you have your non-wrestler guys. Francine could be the female member.

Then, the cherry on top, so to speak . . . bring back a 1-2 obscure ECW guys from waaaay back . . . such as the Shah of ECW and JT Smith.

Together, this group could then slowly start putting over the young talent, and transition to a group of new faces to keep ECW going (you can't rely on the old guys for too long).

BTW, Shock - you turned it off way too early! Flair v. Show was a big suprise! WAY more hardcore than you could ever dream that match could be.

I read the results,Main event seems alright but this "Winner: Sabu via DQ @ 2:00" is unaccecptable on SSSSOOOO many levels.

I certainly agree. I hope that this is part of a larger angle.

BTW, Credible technically won via DQ.

Interesting. The Sabu DQ thing could be leading that way. As could Dreamer's losing streak and RVD's suspension. That would get me watching again. I'd say leave some old ECW guys on the other side though. Balls Mahoney maybe. Credible maybe.

Ok I really liked this show, and if I have to go down swinging I'm going to convert some of you guys to ECW fans...

First stop comparing this to old ECW... it's not, it's Vince's brand... So just stop!

Second... That also means stop caring about the old ECW stars... If they're pushed, they're pushed... if not... well tough luck, that isn't new ECW.

Thirdly... This is Vince McMahon's creation, not Paul Heyman or Tod Gordan... they are not involved.... And Heyman's involvement is nothing more than maybe one segment a show...

With that being said their is some negatives that should not be looked over.

One, the word extreme needs to go... just stop it.

Two, the show's segments need to be mixed up more... they're in nearly the same spot each week.

                          Ok, now for the positives

One, New characters introduced into the WWE universe.

Two, they are giving new guys chances to get over.

Three, each week a decent main event is provided. Raw, Smackdown, and iMPACT cannot say that.

So it's time for me to go on the attack... lets call a spade a spade... if ECW is so crappy... what makes it worse than every other show out there... I don't want "This sucks!" I want analysis of every show and why every show is better than ECW... It's fine to have an opinion guys, but the smark attitude has gone too far. We're not entitled to anything, so either enjoy the product you're given, or don't watch... it's really that simple. I'm not saying you have to like ECW, I'm just saying accept it as what it is... A WWE C brand on a one hour timeslot. Fine still don't like the show? Simple, stop watching. I can't for the life of me fathom why you guys watch this if all you do is complain about it... is that actually fun for you? Do you like "getting over" on the internet because you just "burned" ECW or WWE or TNA... whatever you complain about... quite frankly I just don't understand it anymore.

I'm never going to be burned out on wrestling... but I'm coming real close to giving up on the fans that populate the net... Just a lot of bitching... and none of it is really constructive.

But that's just my .02 cent.

Yeah you don't like "ECW", good for you, join the line. Maybe there's some space at the back. It's getting crowded back there and the police are shutting down the block. Get there quick!

I'm talking about CM Punk. Of course he'll get a chance. Vince, as we should all know by now, makes stars. CM Punk will be one of the top guys for "ECW" within the year.

I watched bits and pieces of ECW this week and last week, and I guess I'm not too impressed thus far. Maybe I came in expecting the wrong thing, but ECW has a reputation as a more risk-taking and no-holds-barred promotion, and there really hasn't been too much risk-taking or no-holds-barred fighting going on, at least from my vantage point. Shouldn't every match be "extreme" rules by default (since it is "Extreme" Championship Wrestling, after all)? And shouldn't the wrestlers take advantage of these "extreme rules" beyond chairshots?

Like I said, maybe I came in expecting the wrong thing based on ECW's reputation, but I wasn't feeling the show much.
