Re: The OS WWE 'Dirt' Thread

I just want WWE to get their head out of their asses. So if that means CM Punk chants during Cena/Orton part 27, so be it.

      As noted earlier, Big
      E
. Langston will now be referred to as simply, Big E. His Twitter handle
      has changed to @WWEBigE from @BigELangston .
      - The
      PRP has an article here
about rock band Tool playing a private concert for
3MB while they were in L.A. earlier this week for RAW. The band performed for
      the WWE
      Superstars
at The Loft in Hollywood. Tool guitarist Adam Jones is a big WWE
fan who performed the National Anthem at SummerSlam in 2011, and even proposed
to his wife at The Royal Rumble pay-per-view last year. In case you
missed it earlier this week, here is a photo of the band hanging out with
      3MB:

Chicago will do it because they're Chicago, but outside there it just shows a lacking fan intelligence.

The same goes for crowds that randomly chant long gone wrestlers names for ****s and giggles. Want to make a difference? Be completely silent. Chant for Bryan/Ziggler/whoever else that works for the company.

REALLY want to make a difference? Have everyone in the crowd that would chant get up and go to the bathroom/concessions when someone's music hits. Not that fans would ever do that because they're too stupid/stubborn/trying to make it about "haha look at us and how cool and trendy we can be."
I've switched back and forth on the whole fan chanting thing and I've finally settled on blaming the product more than the fans. Going through dreadful mid 90s WWF shows and most Philly and some New York shows you'd hear the ECW chants. Fans were frustrated with the WWF product so they voiced their opinion. The same thing happened in WCW in '92 when Flair left and every show ended with a "We Want Flair Chant". I don't remember hearing those chants in '97 WWF when Bret left because fans were busy chanting for the characters and storylines presented to them.

Hearing about WWF booking based on fan chants to makes we wish they put that kind of effort in booking fresh storylines.

I'm just gonna throw it out there, if I had enough money to live comfortably for the rest of my life and my employer wore me down to the point where I thought about abandoning my job, I would not look back.

Re: The OS WWE 'Dirt' Thread

            - There has been talk of indie stars Kevin Steen and Michael Elgin being invited to one of the upcoming WWE developmental tryouts. Steen has known about this for some time and the feeling is that if he shows up out of shape, officials will look down on him a lot.

            - It appears that Tensai is done as a wrestler for WWE, for the time being at least, and is being groomed for an announcers job. Besides working on NXT commentary lately, Tensai has been involved in all RAW and SmackDown pre-show and post-show trial runs that WWE has been doing for the Network recently.

            - Ric Flair has signed a new contract with WWE. All of his appearances and business deals have to be cleared by WWE from here on out. Flair can be booked outside of WWE but in every deal, there is a clause that if WWE calls and needs him for anything, he has to cancel the other booking.

            - Cody Rhodes reportedly has some MCL damage in his right knee, possibly from the steel cage moonsault two weeks ago. Also, Ryback may have hurt his hand in the tag match on this past Monday's RAW.

            - There is a lot of talk within WWE that Christian isn't expected to stick around once his current contract expires. At age 40, there's a feeling that WWE creative isn't going to do anything significant with Christian and he's just "playing out the string."

            - Regarding Sting not signing a deal with WWE yet, it's more because WWE is dragging their feet. We noted before that WWE officials are in no hurry to get Sting signed for a WrestleMania XXX match but word is that Sting himself was hoping for a match against The Undertaker at this year's event.

Since Sting lives in the Dallas area, he is willing to meet up with The Undertaker and work out the match in private at Undertaker’s gym, over and over, to get it right, which is what Undertaker’s opponents have done for the past several years. That’s one of the reasons the matches have gone over so well. There was some concern that Brock Lesnar, who is in it because he makes big money for a limited amount of work and only has a certain number of dates on his contract, may not be willing to spend several extra days working with Taker to get the entire match worked out.

            - Goldust tweeted the following this morning about not facing Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania XXX:

"I repeat... I WILL NOT BE FIGHTING MY BROTHER AT MANIA!!!!!!! Time has passed. Think what u want. Wouldnt get the spotlight it deserves."

            - Steve Austin noted on his latest Unleashed podcast that he recorded interviews with Zeb Colter, Big Show, William Regal and John Cena while at RAW in Los Angeles earlier this week.

            - After a week where the CM Punk talk has started to die down, people within WWE are looking ahead to the March 3rd RAW from Chicago. There is a lot of concern about how that show will play out. With
            Spoiler
scheduled to return at the February 24th RAW, they could be brought to the Chicago RAW as a way to counter the Punk chants.

There was less concern this past week because while there were Punk chants at live events, they didn't pick up or last that long. The feeling is that with nothing major happening with the Los Angeles crowd at RAW on Monday, it's pretty much a done situation with the possible exception of Chicago.

Going into the Los Angeles RAW this week, officials feared fans would hijack the show and ruin the John Cena vs. Randy Orton main event. The idea was to bring Daniel Bryan out twice, including right before the main event, have him go over strong and get the chants out of the way.

There remains mixed feelings within the company regarding Punk's status. Virtually nobody agrees with him when it comes to walking out 30 minutes before a live TV shoot. Many have sympathy for some of his concerns but they argue that Punk was legitimately the #2 guy in the company for a while. On a related note, it's acknowledged that Punk was very popular but the belief is that he was not a ticket seller to live events and only on occasion was he a difference maker in pay-per-view business. At the same time, Punk was the #2 merchandise seller.

            - Word in WWE is that Mr. T has agreed to be inducted into the Hall of Fame this year. No word yet if WWE still plans on inducting the participants and the match itself of the WrestleMania I main event. Another source has confirmed that Cyndi Lauper's name has been discussed as well.

            - Regarding Chris Jericho's WWE future, there was some talk in late 2013 about bringing him back for the first few months of 2014 but apparently the issues that kept it from happening had to do with creative instead of financials.

            - Batista will start wrestling live event matches this coming weekend.

            - Regarding the name changes for Big E and Cesaro, that is a Vince McMahon decision.

            - Both Layla and Richie Steamboat are still under contract to WWE. There were reports that Richie had been cut but he's still out with a back injury that could be career-ending. It's been speculated that Layla is out due to medical reasons or some kind of injury but The Wrestling Observer reports that she's dealing with personal issues.

Re: The OS WWE 'Dirt' Thread

It's funny how so many people are chastising Punk for walking out on the WWE. The WWE has never done anything bad to employees right?

And as far as fans go chanting his name. Who cares? Fans can chant whatever they want. They paid the ticket. They can chant CM Punk, Kurt Angle, Bastion Booger or Skinner.

The biggest argument I can see anyone make that I agree with is its a bummer that many fans had ready paid money to see him and didn't get to. But I heard several refunds have been given.

Pretty much what I want as well.

And maybe it's just me, but I don't look at the fans' chanting another wrestler's/former employee's name as being disrespectful to the current wrestlers. If anything, I think it's trying to get WWE to open their eyes a bit and see what they're doing isn't necessarily what the fans want, if this is what Triple H really does care about like he said 3 years ago.

Wrestlers shouldn't see the fans chanting other peoples names as disrespectful. As a wrestler I would rather hear someone else's name being chanted rather than dead silence. If another wrestler's name is being chanted, obviously you are boring the crowd, so step it up and do some different.

Jr just posted this up...Pretty cool

                    Talent speaking up:

If any wrestling company fosters a backstage environment that does not
encourage their talents to speak up and get more involved in their careers from
a presentation and creative standpoint, that company is asking for hard times.
In ring participants like to perform and to create or they wouldn't be in the
biz. If one is a performer then they likely have an above average abundance of
creativity. Any show business entity that stifles creativity from their
                    performers is myopic.

Talents cannot be afraid to speak up but unfortunately because of the
shrinking number of places a talent can work and earn a decent living the "don't
rock the boat" philosophy seems to permeate the wrestling business.
That's not healthy for anyone involved.

WWE is not just any other job.

Even though I'm a huge CM Punk mark, for a long time now, I 100% support him walking out. We're clearly all members of IWC and are smarks, we all understand the shadiness that goes on in pro wrestling. From Paul E bouncing checks, to TNA being blind to how bad they are, to Vince creating a monoply where the wrestlers don't matter because he can easily replace them.

No matter how worked Punk's shoot was in 2011, it's all true, and that's why he finally left. He's in no need for more money and Vince will never give him the only thing he's ever wanted. So what's the point of staying? Punk has always said he was going to retire young, so I could completely see, once his contract is up in July for him to do a couple matches for ROH, and call it a career. He could always go to MMA, or be an announcer for UFC. And unless he turns to drugs and alcohol and pisses away all of his money, I'd be willing to be we never see Phil Brooks in a WWE ring ever again.

To be clear, again, I don't hold Punk walking away against him. Not chastising him for that and I dont think anybody here is. I just think its moronic for his fans to chant for him at live events like the WWE did something evil to him. Nobody did anything to CM Punk, please lets not forget that.

There was no reason to not make him the number one heel. Neither here nor there with him leaving, I'm just saying. He and Cena could've written itself for the main event at WM. Co-main eventing wouldn've been DANIEL BRYAN and HHH for a title shot at the next PPV. I'm still dumb founded as to why Batista returned.
