Re: The OS WWE 'Dirt' Thread

First of all, I hope everyone realizes that I was only joking. Having worked with juvenile delinquents from the inner-city, I've heard all the rap battles I can stand and I can't stands no more...

I too find Cena's character annoying, but he can put on a good show and has had some very good matches with the right opponents. He does seem like a stand-up guy, which is always refreshing in today's world of pompous ego-maniac athletes/celebrities. I would never say that I'm a Cena fan, but I'm looking forward to his return to add some juice to the main event scene in the WWE. Here's hoping they find a way to freshen up his character...

$80k downside for The Truth per The Observer. Just thought some of you might care.

And with Cena, he's for the kids. I defend the guy plenty because I feel he's really talented, but I don't jump to my feet when he comes out, ya know? He's not a character for us grown people. But I look at how kids today love him the same way we loved Hogan or Bret Hart and how they got kids to watch wrestling. Cena's is doing the same thing with a new generation of fans, and it reminds of when I was little.

I think I'll cut him a bit more slack now that I think of this attitude...I still wish he was someone I could get into more, but I can at least not hate him with mindset

Yup, he's the Hulk Hogan of this generation. I just can't stand the rap part of the gimmick.

And yeah Qbert I knew you were joking.

              Source: The Wrestling Observer Newsletter

We reported earlier that The Wrestling Observer Newsletter had noted a big name of WWE's past - a multi-champion superstar was set to return with the company.

The January 14th edition of the Newsletter confirms that former multi-time WWE Champion Paul Wight - The Big Show - has either signed with the company or has agreed to a deal, and will be starting full-time very soon.

Big Show is down to 440 lbs after leaving pro wrestling to rest, and pursue a possible career in boxing, which obviously included boxing training that got him in quite a good shape. Dave Meltzer also mentions in the Observer that a part of his boxing deal was that Hulk Hogan was to be his "front man" acting like a manager in wrestling for him by doing promos and appearances. This was also the main reason many boxing promoters were actually interested in Big Show and paying him so much money to learn the sport. These plans, however, fell apart at some point, and Show realized that at his age, boxing might not be the right direction to go anyway. There have also been no recent updates or even talks of Hogan doing his own wrestling tour - a very discussed topic of the past. Hence with nothing on the horizon, Big Show is back with WWE.

                  great post Jiggidy, well said.

I don't hate Cena, I met him at a then WWF house show when he was with UPW and went with the gimmick Prototype and he was a hell of a nice guy, so I'm ok with him catering to the kids.

now with Killings and Harris now in the WWE, I'm curious to see how they will be used by the Fed, I would like to see them in ECW and add some new blood to the faltering brand (IMO)

Plus I read a couple weeks ago that the Killings/Cena thing was just for his character. Killings said he had no real problems with Cena.

Re: The OS WWE 'Dirt' Thread

Former ECW champion Bobby Lashley, who was expected to return from his injuries this month, has parted ways with World Wrestling Entertainment, according to Lashley's official website.

Lashley, who debuted with the Smackdown brand in 2005, moved to the ECW brand in December 2006 with the idea that the brand would be built around him. He received a huge promotional push and won the ECW belt at the December to Dismember PPV.

WWE's push continued featuring Lashley going right a Wrestlemania 23 headline match against Umaga with Donald Trump and Vince McMahon as their respective seconds which was promoted heavily to the media due to Trump's involvement and the hair vs. hair stipulation that saw McMahon shaved bald in the center of the ring.

The Wrestlemania match led to a feud with McMahon where Lashley lost and regained the ECW title. Lashley was drafted to the Raw brand in June 2007 and vacated the ECW belt. He had been out of the ring since last July, when he finally took time off to have surgery and rehab rotator cuff and shoulder problems that had been nagging him for several months.

On the forum of his official website, www.BobbyLashleyOnline.com, Lashley commented, "Circumstances, which are out of my control left me no decision but to leave the WWE. I can't go into details of this now but like I said before, sometimes people will hate you personally and try to destroy you, which has happened here. Evil has prevailed. However like I said before, if you continue your struggle, doors will open around these people. You have not seen the last of me, so please don't stop your support. Add Bobby Lashley to the list of RECENTLY RELEASED!"

Lashley, a former amateur champion who also served in the Army, originally signed with the company in 2003 and spent time in Ohio Valley Wrestling before being brought up to the main roster.

Lashley teased a potential MMA interest on 1/16, writing, "I am not sure what I will be doing the next few months. I said I am in fighting shape because if I am not wrestling, I will be fighting. Wrestling is my passion but sometimes things are out of your control. The time off I've had was well needed and was not in vain. I had surgery in August, which was pretty serious. I had to have 5 connectors put in my shoulder to repair my torn labrum. I was slated to be out for 6 months but I think that diagnosis was for an average person. I’m ready for action and I have been for some time now. Whatever action that may be, I will be ready."

Lashley noted that he had just purchased a home in Parker, Colorado and that he expected WWE to acknowledge the release by the end of the week. Word of his departure made its way around the WWE locker room at tonight's Smackdown and ECW taping. As of this writing, he is still listed on the Raw brand's roster page

Interesting, is he basically insinuating Triple H or HBK had him fired? At least that's how I read that.

Honestly, I don't really care much...Lashley never really talked much, and while he was a cool big man it's not like there's a lack of big guys who don't talk in the WWE...

With the way he had been used, it's no loss IMO(if true).

He's a good worker who lacks charisma and mic skills. His ideal role would have been as a bad-*** monster who had a mouthpiece, but since the WWE doesn't believe in managers anymore, that really isn't an option. Without a manager, he's a solid upper-midcard talent who can put on a good match...but he's easily forgotten about when he wasn't around(I mean, has ANYONE missed him since he got hurt?).

It should be interesting to see if he jumps to TNA or if he follows Lesnar's footsteps.
