I'm not too worried about NXT changing considering this version has been HHH's idea from the beginning and I'm positive he won't try to mess with it now that it's successful.
That's not an insult, THAT is just a fact of life.

I was listening to JR's podcast and I kinda like what I heard from Stone Cold about John Cena. He was asked if Cena should ever turn heel and he replied NO!!, NEVER!! He stated there would be no money in it for WWE. Cena is beloved by kids, women, and some men in the audience. His merchandise sales are through the roof and his picture and appearances alone draw thousands of dollars. If WWE were to turn him heel, his merchandise sales would drop as well as his appearances. Its hard to promote a guy turning heel when he is doing "Make a wish" Promo's all the time.

I was all for a Cena heel turn but after listening to this it does make sense to keep him face in WWE's eyes.

Yeah to be honest, for little kids who don't know any better, seeing their hero turn into a bad guy could damage them a bit.

With other guys it usually doesn't make a difference but Cena's different.

What? They're going to turn into juvenile delinquents because Cena goes heel? Idk how else to interpret that.

Me being selfish would love to see a Cena heel turn I loved his stuff when he was a heel.. But like Austin said hard to be a "bad guy" when u doing make a wish all the time.

However someone named Hulk did a pretty good job Turning from mega face to mega heel and before WCW went out of whack he was pretty popular as always. If they were going to do they would have to book it properly maybe a double turn or something like that it would have to be done correctly if not it could jeopardize not only Cena's Career but as well WWE also maybe that why there so reluctant to do it..

Hulkster wasn't the face of the WCW though. That would have been Flair/Sting/whoever. He was a hired gun, so it actually made sense to turn him. The WCW fans didn't really like him that much as a face anyways; he was getting a lot of x-pac heat.

Austin isn't a dummy. He's been around the business for a long time.

I hate to sound like this, but WWE isn't keeping Cena face for the kids. They're keeping him face because his merchandise sales and all that would go down, but also because he's such a good face for WWE when it comes to that.

The difference with Hulk is mostly timing. At that time he was THE face of the entire industry for so long and the product had moved to something much edgier than what his character was. The reboot was not only a huge turn, but pretty much needed for him to stay as relevant. That's not even getting into the differences in media exposure and character crossover (i.e. how much their character is informed by real world behavior, etc).

With Cena, aside from the fact that he's already been a mainstream heel and already has more edge to his character than classic Hulkster (thus diminishing the shock value of a turn), the product and his character are still perfectly aligned. He is the current face of the current direction for WWE. Unless WWE goes back to an edgier product that makes Cena's character less viable, it won't match up.

I agree with Austin that it makes zero sense. The only heat he would get would actually be damaging to him and WWE. Besides, the people who want him to turn so badly are never going to boo him louder than they do now...lol. In that sense, he's kind of already the perfect heel for that crowd.

Apparently Batista was involved in an incident with a fan in Winnepeg where he ended up punching the fan in the face.
