The concussion really pushed the face turn, and he had to split from AJ and Big E, the latter of which was nowhere ready for a title feud. He hasn't done a ton since, but for the most I think they've tried to keep him strong. I think they do really like him, and they're just waiting for the right opportunity to get him into something.
I can tell you with confidence that it isn't overblown. And it is partially his fault.

Yeah, he really doesn't help himself on Twitter and in interviews he does away from TV.

Link is to an interview with CM Punk in a local Chicago newspaper where he answers a question about being retired.

Guy is enjoying life right now, and that's a very good thing.

I was thinking about this the other day, but look at the ripple effect Punk's leaving had on WWE (in a good way):

-Daniel Bryan moved into the main event at WM 30 and won the World Heavyweight Championship.

-The Shield stayed together after nearly breaking-up after the Royal Rumble.

-Batista wound up a heel and reformed Evolution with Orton and Triple H.

I don't know if any of the three situations happen if Punk's leaving doesn't force WWE to have to come up with some new angles/matches for WM 30.

Re: The OS WWE 'Dirt' Thread

              - We noted before that top indie wrestler Ricochet had a tryout with WWE several months ago at a camp. Word is that he was very good in the ring but still wasn't offered a deal. A person close to WWE developmental said Ricochet was a victim of timing and circumstances.

Apparently when Ricochet came in, there were younger wrestlers in developmental who reacted to him like he was a big deal but to WWE, he's just a guy who they don't know that's getting a tryout for a developmental deal. It's said that because officials didn't know who he was and got the reaction that he did from talents, that was the first strike against him until producer Jamie Noble outright told people that Ricochet is really something special.

In the end, Noble's praise didn't help and he wasn't offered a deal. While Ricochet received high marks from those that judge talents at the tryouts, the decision was that they already have too many guys of his size in developmental and they have more than their quota of high flyers, as we've heard with other cases.

              - At one point there was a plan for Cesaro to win the WWE Intercontinental Title, likely from current champion Bad News Barrett.

They switched programs and had him feud with WWE United States Champion Sheamus with the feeling that going for the Intercontinental Title would hurt Cesaro.

No word yet if this means anything for Sunday's Payback pay-per-view where both titles will be on the line.

              - There is a new tag team in WWE NXT named The Vaudevillians. The team is made up of Aiden English and Simon Gotch. They worked several matches at last night's NXT TV tapings and appear to be receiving somewhat of a push.
I'm cool with Gotch and English as a team. Only reminds me that Sandow is lost right now though.

I'm not sure how going for the IC title instead of the US title would hurt Cesaro, the IC title seems to be the more prestigious of the two although neither title is really that prestigious anymore

These dirt writers are complete idiots, that's the conclusion I'm drawing.

Tyson Kidd is one of the longest-tenured WWE Superstars to have never received an extended, featured run with the main roster. Thursday night, he will main event NXT Takeover on the WWE Network in a title match against champion Adrian Neville.

I interpreted that a little differently. I read that as the feud with a hot Barrett would hurt him as opposed to winning over Sheamus.

Also makes little sense but that's how I read it

110% agreed. Why pit a red hot Cesaro against a red hot Barret? Someone's gonna lose their steam.

Now giving Cesaro Sheamus at the PPV, much better idea... even though Cesaro doesn't need a belt, just great feuds, it makes more sense.

I feel the opposite let them feud sometime soon at Summerslam or something. Don't just feed them guys we know they are going to beat, the WWE needs good feuds that aren't in the main event.

                              Except they won't.

If they're both good enough to be there, a great match can push them both further.

                              See: Hart/Austin, WM13.

It takes something special to push them both...

But Hart/Austin is a different realm, and it's hard for me to get that comparison. Yes both were hot, but at the time Austin was heel and Hart was face, then the double turn. In this scenario, Cesaro has been doing nothing but heel tactics as well as Barret, yes they get great crowd reactions, but the story is essentially heel vs heel.
