I wouldn't be surprised to see a few interesting names get released if this go through.
That's why I think they should keep the split brand for the undercard guys, and have the main eventers move around more.

But in all seriousness, it would most likely be a triple threat/fatal four way IF Undertaker is involved. It would suck if Taker finally lost but it was that type of match. I would rather have a young upcoming wrestler beat Taker 1 on 1 rather than Cena who wouldn't need the push that someone would get by ending the "The Streak".

I would love a unification. It would mean more guys to hold the World Title, and the IC title would regain some of the respect it's lost if it were to go to some guys that were more established.

How do more guys get to hold the world title? If there's 1 instead of 2 that means much less will and there'll probably be a lot less chances taken with the main events. Unless you mean the specific world title as in the one that's on SD! but even then it's probably less. I highly doubt Swagger or even Kane would've got a run if they were unified.

I don't see it being Taker in that match. Obviously it's Cena, but I think it's a heel Triple H facing him. If the main event is the unification of the two World Titles, I think that should/would be the focus of the match. If it was Taker vs. Cena, it'd be about the streak more than anything. I think that'd be a great mania match, but I don't think it makes sense to have the title unification and the Taker streak match be the same match. That's combining two main event storylines/matches, which would be especially dumb if there is only one World Title match at the event.

What I could see happening is them doing what they did when they unified the WWE and WCW titles, and have a WWE Title Match, a World Title Match, and a unification match, all in the same night. I think that makes a lot more sense than a fatal fourway. A darkhorse for me to win it would be Jericho if he is still around then, so he could crow about unifying World Titles twice.

Totally bungled up the wording. I meant that it would mean more to the guys that held the title. You know, top dog status.

If they did it once before, how do they "Un Unify them" like from a storyline standpoint how did they go about turning it into 2 belts again?

Basically, when the WWE bought WCW, and they brought in various WCW wrestlers for the 2001 Invasion angle, WCW Champion Booker T brought the WCW Title with him. After the invasion angle, The Rock held the WCW Title, and it became the World Heavyweight Championship. So there was a World Heavyweight Champion (The Rock), and a WWE Champion (Austin). Jericho then beat The Rock to win the World Heavyweight Title at Vengeance, and then later in the same night, beat Austin to win the WWE Championship to unify the titles.

Later, the WWE did the Brand Extension. This was when they started doing the Smackdown and Raw "exclusive" rosters. The WWE Undisputed Champion could appear on both shows. He would be on RAW one month, SD! the next, then back to RAW, etc. Having a show go a month at a time without a World Championship was hurting the ratings, so they needed to end that. So, when Brock Lesnar won the undisputed Championship, he signed and "exclusive" deal to keep the title on SD! exclusively, so RAW was without a championship. Eric Bischoff declared that Lesnar's title was no longer undisputed and he awarded the World Heavyweight Championship to Triple H, and we got championships they way we know them now, when there are two world champions.

That makes more sense. As long as the runs are of decent length.

I think the Undertaker wins at HiaC and loses at the Rumble so won't be in the main event unification match anyway. I do like the 3 matches idea again. Might even be able to catapult someone with that the same way Jericho was. We can get years of Morrison,Kofi,Bourne,Kaval,Bryan or Miz bragging about how they beat HHH and The Undertaker in the same night while unifying the titles and ending 'Takers streak.

As long as they don't repeat WM IV and go with a tournament, I'll be OK. I'm just glad they are reducing the number of titles. It should help re-establish the IC Title as meaningful and the WWE Championship will also gain prestige as there will be just one recognized world champion, and not two, which I always found kind of silly.

Does this mean we'll actually get rid of that crappy "spinner" championship?

Although I think the World Heavyweight Championship is the best looking trophy/title in sports (or sports entertainment), they need to go back to the winged championship of the 80's, early 90's.

My hope is that it'll be like the old days in that most of the mid-card guys will be put into tag teams that stay together for more than a month and there will actually be an interesting tag division again.
