Re: The OS WWE 'Dirt' Thread

Sources say Batista is coming to grips with the fact that his days are numbered as a full-time, active WWE wrestler.

While he plans to make a full recovery from his recent biceps injury, the talk is that Batista knows he will not be able to continue for much longer. Though most wrestlers end up going far longer than Mother Nature would recommend, the feeling is that Batista has accepted that his body is aging--he might not opt to make more returns if he again succumbs to injury after returning from this ailment.

WWE still places Batista's expected return timeframe at 4-6 months, although there is some optimism that he will try to get back in the ring by the end of the summer.

    PLEASE GO........

This hasn't been Matt Hardy's year from a health perspective. At last night's Raw taping, Hardy suffered a torn abdominal muscle during his match with Kofi Kingston and MVP.

Maybe he should take some time off.

According to Dave Meltzer, many of the wrestlers in WWE are under the impression that Rey Mysterio has given his notice. A friend of Mysterio is also under the same impression. The stance from the WWE office is that there have been financial issues, but that he has not given his notice. It could be a situation where Mysterio has told people he has given notice, or intends to, but at this point has not. If Mysterio were to walk away from WWE, he would have options in Mexico.

As previously reported, Mysterio is not alone in voicing concerns over pay. With that said, it would be a baffaling decision if WWE refunded all the fans that attended last night's Raw, WWE gave away a $235,000 live gate, which will not set well with the talent.

The majority of these guys get paid VERY well.

Rey was making in 2006 (from the WWE stock release of salaries) $414,000. He's been injured quite a bit. The WWE pays for all of that (it's stated in their company holdings reports). And he gets a cut on top of that from mechandise sales. I don't know what this guy thinks he's owed. He's made a heck of a good amount of money.

And if the Boys are pissed that Vince gave back the Gate to the fans... boo hoo. Who's struggling more...? The fans that are probably making an average of 40k per year. Most of these guys are making WELL OVER 200k per year.

If Vince truly gave the gate back that was a very cool thing and a crazy business choice as well.

If Rey and others think they are underpaid, they are more than welcome to join us average pay scale folks.... and yeah, I'm sure they'd jump on that in a heartbeat.

Meltzer wrote some more and there's a little more to it. He wants to take advantage of his popularity in Mexico. Here's the passage from this week's WO:

The issues between WWE and Mysterio have apparently, maybe not been settled, but he’s not leaving and he was on the verge at one point of doing so. It was a big deal internally a week ago with the fear he would quit but it’s considered settled now. Mysterio is under a long- term contract to WWE, but has brought up to them the idea he thinks he can make more money in Mexico. He’s had years of late in the $1.5 million range and I just don’t see how he can make that in Mexico. Supposedly AAA had offered him a $1 million signing bonus and in excess of $1 million per year when he was on the open market. He’s in that camp of people who are probably down 15% or so because the revenue streams the guys are paid off of are down 15%, although the decline in Wrestlemania from last year is significantly less than the overall business (about 8%), and Mania is a significant part of wrestlers’ annual income. Right now he’s happy about where things are going with him in the future in the Jericho program and however everything went down this past week left him in good spirits. The big issue, which still may surface at some point, is that it was described to me that right now he is the second most popular person in Mexico right now, behind only the president. He wants to take advantage and monetize that popularity, do mainstream media appearances, get product endorsements like Mysterio tennis shoes and the like and other products like a Tiger Woods or Michael Jordan would get here, avenues that aren’t open to wrestlers in this country that those in Mexico say he probably would be able to get. But that becomes the Ric Flair problem in that the company would have the right to veto things, be his agent in deals and a lot of companies would rather avoid dealing with WWE and will just use other celebrities because it’s considered less difficult.
I don't blame him for the last bolded part. And I'll never hold trying to get as much money as you can against someone, but like I asked before, what does he expect in these times? Not only that, but four years in the modern era is a hell of a run.

Even if he went to TNA, they wouldn't allow him to make appearances in AAA or am I wrong? I remember them cutting guys off from ROH, but this is a bit different.

I thought TNA had a great relationship with AAA. They did at one point anyway.

They cut off their relationship with AAA since the Konan lawsuit.

Going to TNA, working relationship or not, would defeat the whole purpose. WWE is getting huge in Mexico and that a big part of the reason why he's so popular there. TNA doesn't have anywhere the visibilty and WWE is about to kick AAA's ***.

Only place is with Vince, though I do see both sides with endorsments and such.
