Re: The OS WWE Spoilers Thread
Stone Cold Steve Austin was one of the main catalyst for a boom period in wrestling. John Cena at no point in time has had the cultural impact that Hogan, Stone Cold or The Rock had in their careers. I don't even know how that's a debatable topic honestly.Comment

Re: The OS WWE Spoilers Thread
Uhhh what? So people weren't flocking to wrestling in droves to witness Stone Cold and The Rock? The Rock wouldn't have left wrestling if he hadn't become a big deal outside of it. Triple H, The Big Show and Mankind were on Saturday Night Live....let that sink in for a minute. The three of them got to get their faces on SNL because of how big a star The Rock was. The Rock spoke at both the Republican and Democratic National Conventions. I don't think some of you are remembering just how big wrestling and the WWF were in 1997-2001. John Cena's success right now (which is nowhere near what Austin and Rock's was mind you) is a direct result of those two.Comment

Because of what Cena does not just on the screen. There's a reason he's granted the most make a wishes and is the most followed athlete on social media.St. Louis Cardinals | Milwaukee Bucks | Los Angeles Rams

And yet Raw still can't pull a 5.0 rating with him. If Twitter were around at the time I'm pretty sure both of them would have him beat. I can't believe we're even having this conversation right now though.Comment

Wrestling was huge then. All the way from Steve Austin to Crash Holly. But there was no Hogan or Cena.St. Louis Cardinals | Milwaukee Bucks | Los Angeles Rams

I can't either. I don't know how there's any dispute that Cena is the second biggest to Hogan.St. Louis Cardinals | Milwaukee Bucks | Los Angeles Rams

Re: The OS WWE Spoilers Thread
I've always sorta assumed Cena looks bigger than he actually is because he was alone at the top. He spent almost a decade at the top of the industry with no real challengers to his popularity. Rock and Austin both added too AND detracted from their stars.
Stone Cold was EVERYWHERE in main steam culture in the late 90's. He was the face of the company during the WWF's greatest success. That makes him the second most important guy behind Hogan. The WWE has done nothing but remain average at best on Cena's watch. And you certainly don't see Cena t shirts all over high schools and colleges throughout the country.Comment

Re: The OS WWE Spoilers Thread
The reason Rock and Austin never quite got to that level is that there were two of them. Two mega stars to share the spotlight, so neither one of them ever had to be relied on to that degree.

Re: The OS WWE Spoilers Thread
Is everyone commenting here aware that without Stone Cold, the WWF goes out of business and there is no John Cena? Without The Rock, there is no WWF for Stone Cold to come back to, and again there is no John Cena. Can somebody define exactly what we're discussing because at this point I honestly don't know unless there's some serious trolling going on here.Comment
