Re: The OS WWE Spoilers Thread

WWE has signed top Lucha heel Averno, who worked for CMLL for years, feuding with current WWE star Sin Cara under his old persona of Mistico. While there is no word on what the company's plans for him are, the smart money would be on a recreation of their old feud.
As I noted earlier today, there had been talk in recent weeks of signing some new talent from Mexico in advance of their October Raw and Smackdown tapings in Mexico City.

That was definitely a plus for me - both are hot and there is a lot of potential there. Surely Natalya can be better used than as a manager though?

Christian screwed Sheamus in the match then hit Orton with the belt afterwards. Not sure what sense that makes.

Tyson Kidd had another manager this week,Matt Striker.

Post show smackdown dark match didn't happen. Mark Henry comes and he and the ref stall for time. WWE plays Kahl's hornswaggles and Vince's music. Mark Henry finally goes backstage and the ring announcer says good night.

Christian wants to beat Orton, so he screws Sheamus to make sure Orton still has the strap.

Same here, Christian going full blown heel gives Orton a much better rogues gallery and gives Bryan a shot at being the #2 active face on SmackDown.

Ah yes let the guy you haven't been able to beat win so you can try again instead of trying something new. Genius!

It goes along with Christian saying repeatedly to Randy "I know I can beat you." This isn't a full blown turn for Christian. It's another step. He still wants to "earn" it, so getting it from Sheamus would seem like a back door.

Remember, the best bad guys always think that what they're doing is right.

I kinda hope it's not going to be a full heel turn for Christian. IMO, the WWE could really use a good "tweener" right now and I think Christian is the perfect guy for it and that can help him stand out and keep from getting lost in the shuffle again once the stuff with Orton is over.

I disagree. I think tweeners rarely work because they get a lukewarm reaction because you dont love them or hate them

Rock, Bret Hart, STSA, Orton pulled off being tweeners well. Those are just off the top of my head.

Those guys weren't tweeners though. They were faces. They were the "anti-hero" type faces, but faces nontheless. No one every booed those guys (maybe Hart). I think being a tweener for a bit can work real well in leading to a turn (which is how Orton and Hitman did it). But being a face/heel is more about crowd reaction than actions - Stone Cold always got cheered, even when acting like a heel might at times. A tweener though will get booed at times, and get cheered at others. And I don't think that normally works very well.

I'd say Cena is more of a tweener than The Rock or Stone Cold. Have the crowd loves him and the other half hate him. I think he's really the only long-term tweener I've seen that makes it work.

So many people forget that when Austin started his "Stone Cold" character, he was a major heel. He was never "turned face" and it took him months, even after the infamous "3:16" and "Passing Out" moments to get the full support of the crowd.

Orton was the same way on shorter timeline. He RKO'd anything that moved, or face or heel, and at the beginning he wasn't getting full reaction either way.

I don't consider Cena a tweener at all. His crowd reaction isn't based upon his actions. He is full out babyface, the people that boo him are doing so out of spite, and not character.
