Re: I think I miss WCW...
I completely stopped watching wrestling when WCW ended. The only reason
I got back into it was when I heard the nWo had come back to WWF/E. I never saw an episode of WWF until WCW was over. I stayed loyal to it, and what a great decision I made.Comment

Re: I think I miss WCW...
my middle school had two gangs... NWO Black and White and NWO Wolfpack... I kid you not. That all ended one day when this kid gave a diamond cutter to someone because he was pissed at them... ended up busting that kid's face up pretty bad and he got suspended... but for a time NWO fever ruled my middle school.Comment

Re: I think I miss WCW...
So funny you guys bring it up, because it was like that for me too growing up. People who followed nWo always threw up the nWo signs and the wwf followers always did the DX signs.
The best memory i had with that was when i was part of a youth basketball league and everyone at our age was into wcw or wwf. Our jersey's were red and black and our intro music was the wolfpack song and we had opponents who came in with the DX song.Comment

Re: I think I miss WCW...
BTW I never watched much WCW when it was around but it was always a viable alternative to WWE. I mean, that promotion just had a different vibe to it and I liked the fact that they had an older audience for much of its existence. I do think that WCW upper management handcuffed the promotion at times with the insistence on "family friendly" programming without swear words or more adult themes when clearly the tide was turning.
By the time they started to get the message it was almost too late. Unfortunately, the guy they hired to change the WCW atmosphere was a one trick pony in Vince Russo.
Overall, I like watching the old JCP/WCW stuff more then the old WWE stuff when watching WWE 24/7 on Demand.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: I think I miss WCW...
The absence of WCW is a HUGE problem in wrestling today, IMO. WCW helped expand the talent pool and gave young wrestlers face time.....so when they came over to the WWE, they already knew how to perform. You didn't see the painful experience of a brand trying to "force feed" a guy and watching him develop necessarily when you could get a young but relatively popular wrestler from the WCW.
The NWA is not the same because it's not as nearly as established as WCW was and the WCW crowds were tougher."Maybe I can't win. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that."Comment
