Nope. I don't think they'll ever be seriously considered, either.

I saw a match with them....They're way too over the top with all the high spots. In fact some of the moves they did looked way too dangerous for WWE.

Really, they reminded me of a younger version of the Hardy's when I saw them. I guess they're a few years too young, they'd have been a great fit in the era of tag teams like the Hardy's, Edge & Christian, and the Dudley's.

Defenitly. They do waaay too much in every match. I wouldn't have much of a problem with that if they didn't finish with a ho-hum, compared to the crazy stuff they do, springboard doomsday device as a finisher. It leaves every match feeling flat.

BUT, they look cool and have a cool entrance, so I cheer. I feel dirty for doing it, but whatever. I can have my guity pleasures!

Agreed. The Briscoes are great, but they're likely the most overrated talent in the internet wrestling nerd world. They rely on so many high risk double team moves that it's overkill and makes normal "strong moves" look weak. Don't get me wrong, they've had some amazing matches over the last year(their match vs. MCMG may be my favorite match ever)...but some act like everything they touch turns to gold.

That being said, I definitely wouldn't be surprised to see them on SD someday. If Mark wants to be able to walk when he's 30, he's going to have to get out of the indy world...and I think Vince's money would be enough to get them to tone down the act. I can't see them becoming too much in the E, but I could see them becoming the cronies for some GM or if nothing else at least getting a similar role to what Londrick does.

So when counting total championship belts, is CM Punk now a 2 time World Champion?

I forget the guy's name, but he did go back to OVW for a while but ended up quitting the company and chose to pursue acting. Not sure if he ever made it or not. He did have a good look, though.

I also really liked the character, but WWE were pretty much forced to get rid of him after the network started putting some heat on them for having the guy on TV.

Depends on what you classifly as a World Championship. Technically, he's held the top belt in ROH and two of WWE's three brands, so I guess he could be considered a three time champ. Of course, some will argue that ECW isn't big enough for their title to be considered a World Championship...and others will argue ROH isn't big enough to have their championship be considered a World Championship.

If wrestling went by PWI's book, CM Punk won his first World title this past Monday. I'm sure the WWE will claim he's now a two-time champ(I remember them considering past ECW champs as World Champs for last year's "Open Challenge" at Vengeance). ROHbots will probably consider him either a two-time or three time champ based on how they feel about nu-ECW.

IMO I don't care how many titles he's held, the fact is that he has reached the top of three different brands of sports entertainment...pretty damn impressive IMO

Speaking of the promotion that saved my wrestling interest ... what do you guys think of ROH these days?

They've lost sooo much talent over the last few years, and most are doing incredibly well. Samoa Joe, CM Punk, Matt (Evan Bourne) Sydal, Homicide, Colt Cabana, AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, Alex Shelley and arguably KENTA since he was a semi-regular that won't wrestle in the states anytime soon.

Now the rumors are flying about Danielson. They still put together amazing shows (Supercard of Honor III - buy it!!) but the PPVs haven't been a huge hit for them and the guys they're pushing aren't completely over.

Where do you see Ring of Honor in a year? Still doing their thing, or really fighting to reinvent themselves?

EDIT - I sorta took the "WWE" out of the thread title. Oops.

I gotta admit, ROH has really lost my interest over the last year or so. Mid-05 through mid-07 were absolutely awesome. The great three-show stretch in Spring of 05, to Summer of Punk, to Danielson's brilliant reign, to the ROH-CZW war, to Ring of Homicide to the Jacobs-Whitmer blood feud to Morishima's awesome reign of terror...the show always had something entertaining to me.

But since Morishima's reign ended, I've found it hard to get into the product. Granted, I'm not a big Nigel fan, and seeing as the World Champ has a big focus on the show, that hurts it for me. AOTF hasn't really gone as well as I would have liked. Danielson & the Briscoes have hit the Samoa Joe point where they've accomplished all they can and have become sorta stale acts(don't get me wrong, both put on great matches, but it just isn't the same as it was during Danielson's 06 reign or the Briscoes 07 reign).

The Jacobs-Aries feud and Sweet 'n Sour Inc are the only things going that intrigue me anymore.

I really think ROH tries to do too much sometimes. If they let their guys go all out every show and always give clean finishes, eventually it's going to be difficult to create new matchups or outdo their past matches. ROHBots expect every match to be a four-star-plus match. Anything less is "disappointing." I think a little more focus on sports-entertainment(NOT TO THE POINT OF WWE/TNA!) would help give more meanings to the matches other than "THIS IS THE FIRST EVER MATCH BETWEEN DANIELSON & CLAUDIO!" stuff that they normally use to advertise matches.

I dunno. Don't get me wrong, ROH is still great and I think it'll be fine going into the future. But I find myself trying more to fill in shows from the past than the current ones. I think they're sort of hit a wall with their current product. I think they've expanded about as much as they're going to with their current formula.

This is really the only gripe I have with ROH that's worth complaining about. There's some continuity problems, some questionable booking and some bad wrestling, but whatever. And most of the fanbase sickens me, but that comes with territory of being a niche product so it's not their fault.

The Hammerstein Show is the perfect example. It was by far the show with the most pro feel. In other words, it didn't go four hours because the matches were what they were supposed to be in their slots on the card. People complained about the FIP match going 7 minutes...but it was the opener. They complained about Necro/Morishima being an "extended squash". The match sucked, but if it was the "regular squash" it should've been, they would've bitched that it wasn't the stiff bloddy brawl they wet their pants over when it was announced.

Basically what I'm saying is is that Gabe is damned whatever he does. The ROHbots except something that just can't last forever because it means matches are run through too fast. I love Daielson, but he's done everything. Same thing with Aries. There's only so many times we can see Nigel/Dragon just because their workrate is great. Takes more than that and I don't know if Gabe has it in him right now. I think he needs a break.

Why didn't the Savage-Flair program in 1992 continue after WM VIII? The angle had a lot of heat behind it, and with Savage winning the title, you'd think a rematch at SummerSlam would've been logical. If I remember correctly, Flair didn't even wrestle on the show, but did get involved in the Warrior-Savage match.

Always bugged me that this feud just kind of faded away.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's lost interest in ROH, sure I'll still check out the occasional show here and there. But that's mainly more or less to watch Chris Hero as he's really the only thing that holds my interest these days. I'll hear how great a recent show was, but then I'll download it and see people like Gen-Erick Stevens and Jigsaw getting pushes and I instantly yawn and skip ahead to another match.
