Rapper gimmick. Chain Gang. Now, the FU? The evolution of becoming more corporate-and-kid-friendly, the WWE has gone away from the rapper gimmick that pushed John Cena into a main event slot on Smackdown in the mid-2000s will soon lead to another aspect of Cena's original character being done away with.

Cena's "FU" finisher will undergo a name-change to "The Throwback," reports Jim Ross. No word on whether the STFU submission hold will be re-named to The Holdback. Nevermind.

Ross says it "works for me and is certainly easier for me to communicate to my 5-year-old granddaughter who's a Cena fan of sorts."

I wonder with the whole kid friendly thing, if they will go as far as going back and editing DVD's and such as well. I think they could've came up with something more suitable, such as something military related, to honor the troops, but not violent.

I'd say it's less "Kid Friendly" and more just not having a move that's blatantly meaning the phrase "F--- You"...Probably a good move, would you want your 5 year old going "FU FU" all the time?

True enough but that didn't stop the Rock from making reference to pie eating all the time in the late '90s That being said, the pie eating stuff was more oblique and less blatant.

You make a good point...I personally don't mind the crudeness, but can see both sides. Plus you'd have Cryme Time (who are hilarious), Snitsky killing babies in utero, etc. I guess I don't fully understand the WWE's direction.
