Ted DiBiase Jr. The Next Big Thing?

I think he has the "It" factor. It looks like the E is finally gonna push him to main event status. Thoughts?

I wholeheartedly agree, and can't wait until he's a big-time star. He's got the look, the charisma, the skill, the mic work, the lineage....it's great. Would love to see DiBiase/Cena one of these days.

Yep, he's the total package imo. I just hope the E doesn't blow it with him like they have so many others. Him and Cena would be gold. Also like to see him and Orton. From what I heard Hunter and Shawn like him, so you know what that means lol.

Oh, one other thing. What's his gimmick going to be? I don't mean anything silly, but he has to have some sort of shtick.

It'll be tough. I would love for him to act like a rich, cocky guy who uses his lineage as "proof" that he's great, etc. I don't know. I dont see him as being the viper-like Orton or anything. It'll be tough for him.

I think he'll be better suited as a heel for sure, though.

Interesting. I don't watch wrestling anymore, but I see that DiBiase Jr. is aligned with Cody Rhodes.

That's some strong family backgrounds right there. Smart move by WWE.

I have a quick question, though. Has WWE pretty much removed itself from the gimmick characters? Seems like everyone just looks like a body builder. Nothing wrong with that, but there's a different look to wrestling when I don't see guys running around with Million Dollar Belts and polka-dot body suits.

I see DiBiase eliminating Orton at the Royal Rumble. Whether by accident or not, it'll lead to him vs Orton at Mania. No matter who wins that, it's huge for DiBiase, to be doing a match with a guy like Orton at the biggest PPV of the year. I definitely could see Ted DiBiase as one of the top guys on down the road.

I'm getting back into wrestling, a little at a time... but hven't seen too much of Jr. Gone to Youtube to check it out. I'm liking all of the lineage that is in w/ some of the current wrestlers.

              Rhodes, Dibiase, Orton... looks good.

I find it difficult to invision. It's just that Sr. never really won anything. He won the tag titles,KotR and was given something called the WWF North American Heavyweight Championship but never had the IC or World titles. Not including the Million Dollar belt of course.

Re: Ted DiBiase Jr. The Next Big Thing?

I could see Jr. have more a future than his dad. His dad is one of those guys that I think could have made it further, but for some reason didn't. Like Jake Roberts. Roberts could have easily become the Intercontinental Champion and been fine there. Same with DiBiase.

DiBiase technically had the WWF World Title, because Andre surrendered it to him after he "beat" Hogan, but it all got kinda voided out and then they had the WrestleMania 4 Tournament for the WWF Title.

Anyway, I think DiBiase definitely has a bright future...more so than Cody Rhodes.

He could have a bright future in today's WWE, but honestly he's nowhere near as compelling or charasmatic as his dad.

When you say this, what do you mean?

Isn't this decided by the writers of the program? I feel like this is the biggest mystery for me. Why are fan favorites (even if heels) not given a chance to win a title and how is it that the wrestler in question failed to win it if the writers make the decisions?

Well, for whatever reason some guys never rises up above a certain level.

Could be politics, could be they don't move enough merchandise, could be that they worry he won't be a big enough 'draw' to sell PPV's. Or, in the case of someone like Jeff Hardy who was a mega face... they can't be trusted enough to be the face of the company and are held back by their personal demons.

A whole host of things to be honest.

William Regal for example... I think he's the total package, he can wrestle, he can talk and he has a good look... but he's never really moved past the mid-card heel, outside of the time he was the GM.

A lot of it has to do with timing... and a lot of it has to do with the factors I listed above.

Regal had a chance to get real over after he won King of the Ring, IMO. However, he ended up getting suspended for steroids and that killed all his momentum.
