One of the best themes ever. I loved DiBiase so much.
And probably one of the most truest quotes ever said:

    Everybody's got a price".

Not bustin balls but he did have the heavyweight title for a short time after Andre won it from Hogan and gave it to Dibiase and he was never in the kotr.

He was the top heel in 88-89 era at least till Savage turned. I believe the plan was to put the belt on him at WM IV but Honky tonk refused to drop the IC belt to Savage and Savage got pissed so Vince put the world title on him to make him happy.

There's nothing to back this up except me thinking too hard, but I've never believed this story.

It'll go down as the truth, but I just have a hard time believing that a heel would win at WrestleMania back then. Yeah, it wasn't established as the annual "send the fans home happy" show that it became (unlike Crockett's annual "let's the get the belt back on Flair" show), but the way the Hogan/Savage story was laid out I can't believe it was Plan B to Hogan simply chasing DiBiase. Not only that, but would Savage do for the next year? Stay in the mid card with IC title? Be DiBiase's job boy bitch around the loop? Feud with Honky? He was way too over for that and it really was his time.

I also doubt Vince would blow up his plans just to keep one guy happy.

I don't know, I just have a hard time wrapping my brain around it all.

Yeah i hear ya. I never really understood as ruthless as Vince was/is why he just wouldn't of fired Honky for refusing to to put Savage over. Of all the guys Vince would bow down to Honky isn't at the top of that list.

I think I remember seeing it in Dibiase's book that he knew he wasn't going to be a long term champ he was just going to be a transitional champ. So I'd guess the plan would probably be for him to drop the belt to Savage at summerslam. Who knows?

on camera maybe. But Vince has always kind of had a hard rule on the guys backstage.
