Former AEW star Santana in WWE competing for the TNA title feels weird.

Mariah May in NXT! Getting the Ricky treatment. Debuts in the crowd but no name gets announced. Guess she's getting a name change?

Debuting Mariah May in NXT feels a bit...strange to me. I guess I'm not completely shocked, but it feels like a very 2018/2019 era (ie: Vince) WWE decision. Oh, you're a top star in another promotion? Go to our developmental territory. And it's not like it's a Ricky Starks situation, where he was off TV and basically shunned for months and months. Maybe the main roster is just overstocked with top female talent? Because I don't think she really needs training. Again, not shocked or anything, and I'm sure people will disagree with me.

Perhaps they're just having her there for a short time for a "conditioning stint" (aka "get used to the wwe style"), like we saw with Vaquer and Giulia.

Couldn't we say it also fits the Triple H NXT black and gold era of just throwing anyone with some name recognition on NXT first? Here's Vaquer, and Giulia, and Zaria, and Jordynne Grace, oh now here's Mariah May.

She definitely doesn't need any specific in-ring training or learn how to work WWE style. I see it as a move to give NXT a little buzz after losing two big names and also an easy way to do something with her because the main roster's tied up right now. They're trying to establish Vaquer and Giulia, trying to elevate Lyra Valkyria as a character, somehow still trying to make Zelina Vega a thing, etc.

I feel like a name change here complicates things and would be WWE overthinking it. I get if they don't want to use Mariah May, but.... replace the Y with a E and you get Mariah Mae. It's a simple letter change all that's needed.

They need to make sure they have stories for these people otherwise none of it matters.

It doesn't even feel like Mariah May was in AEW for what was just over a year! Feels like she was there way longer.

She went from making her in ring debut in January 2024, aligned with Toni during this time, had the story with Toni and Mina by June, turned on Toni in July, won the women's title in August, met rookie Toni Storm in December, lost the title in February, had her final match in March, and of course debuts in NXT in June. What a crazy amount of notable moments in a short time.

Even then, it's not different enough to really trademark or be a meaningful difference from Mariah May.

Given the MITB kickoff starts at 5:30 (don't get why they feel the need for 90 min pre shows. 1 hour is enough), that probably means Worlds Collide is likely a 2-2.5 hour show?


Graves and Konnan as the commentary duo isn't what I would've guessed.

For the next WWE/AAA event, they should do it in Mexico. You could have a huge weekend in Mexico.

SD in Mexico on Friday, a WWE PLE on Saturday, then the NXT/AAA crossover on Sunday, with Raw also there on Monday.

A big international weekend while getting to stay in your same timezone.

She's now....Blake Monroe? Mariah Monroe at least would've been decent.

They also did a Toni Storm style promo for her too. But instead of black and white looking like it's from the 1950s, they made it more 1980s tv style.

The names meaningful at least to her (Blake is her nieces name, and obviously the last name is a tribute to Marilyn Monroe, which is also nice because of the whole Toni Storm stuff).

But Mariah Monroe would've been fine too.

It’s an alright name on its own, it’s just going to take a lot of getting used to after knowing her as Mariah May.
