Re: Official WWE Smackdown Thread 2011
I thought Booker was solid...took him awhile to get settled in but did a pretty good job.Comment

More likely that Striker picks up a gig as a backstage interviewer, or could be future endeavored seeing as how reports are that folks backstage have not been that favorable of his work recently.Comment

Striker didn't have enough of an in-ring career to come off as credible, imo.Currently Playing:

I didn't like Striker....it was so forced and when he tried to make "real sport"-style analysis, it came across as extremely lame.Comment

Re: Official WWE Smackdown Thread 2011
Wow, I didn't know so many people were so low on Striker. He's far and away my favorite commentator. I don't care what kind of career a person had. You can get Hulk Hogan or Stone Cold in the booth and it doesn't necessarily mean they will be great at commentating (though they might).
I also love Striker's "real world analysis". I liked hearing about a guy's amateur background, how their longer limbs both aid and hurt them in a match in different ways, and how a certain move does damage to the lungs and has the added affect of messing up an opponent's breathing. The guy is intelligent and always added a lot to the matches he called. Also, he did it in a way where he wasn't overbearing or taking over like Cole and King sometimes do when "in character" (don't get me wrong, I love Cole, but he does tend to do this).
Spoiler
It sucks that he's rubbing some people wrong backstage, if the dirt posted above is true, because I am REALLY high on him.
Edit: I LOVED on Smackdown when Alberto Del Rio had his over the top rope Royal Rumble Challenge and he was facing scrubs. When they came out in their generic tights to their generic music, Striker knew all these facts about them. Whether he was making up backgrounds on the spot or not I was dying laughing at the other announcer's reactions.
At about the 6 minute mark...

Re: Official WWE Smackdown Thread 2011
I've kinda soured on Striker too. He says a lot of stuff just for the sake of saying it and trying to look smart, even when it doesn't really fit. I'm all for trying to bring a competitive, strategic aspect to matches through commentary, but Striker overdoes it to blowhard levels, to the point where I just want him to shut the heck up.Comment

Re: Official WWE Smackdown Thread 2011
I liked when he was trying to explain the Cobra. Plus he actually knows the names of the moves instead of calling a basic body slam a powerslam, not knowing what the Anaconda Vice is and getting suplexes confused with non-suplexes.Comment
