Re: Raw 08/22/11... But you already know that!

Not sure it was a bad raw. It entertained me, we saw a title change, a mid card feud develop and the whole conspiracy thing is growing more and more.

I will say that I find the Del Rio-Cena feud to be completely contrived and boring. It feels like the typical 2007 Cena feud where Cena declares he wants a title shot, he wins his title shot, enemy gives Cena massive beatdown, Cena over comes the odds and still wins. By the way, how big of a hypocrite is Cena? Talking about taking advantage of the moment last week, Cena takes advantage of Punk having his attention turned towards Nash an capitalizes on it. What a total and massive hypocrite Cena is. It's a horrible, horrible thing if someone cashes in the MITB they earn, but taking advantage of heel tactics is totally legit? **** you Cena.

As for the whole Tag Team thing, I love it. For one, R-Truth and Miz are a natural team and have literally nothing going on right now. Much like Big Show and Jericho had nothing going on and they pretty much single handedly revived the Tag Titles a few years ago. Now, though, I hope they mix these thrown together teams *Kofi and Bourne* and mix in some of the real tag teams they have/may sign *KoW, Usos, Generation ME, ect*. Then you can start putting over the other tag teams. Sure, to me, tag team wrestling will never main event a PPV or sell out WM, but it still fun to watch and can create some classic moments in the WWE *TLCII anyone? Made WM17*.

Del Rio's mic work was terrible last night. And I think it's time to lose the stupid "I drive a car" in thing.

Re: Raw 08/22/11... But you already know that!

Truth and Miz don't have to be a tag team. They can be an occasional alliance and that want to stop the conspiracies.

Seems to me some of you guys rather have the status quo than interesting storylines and oppurtunites for stars. **** on the CM Punk angle all you want but if he had really left and wasnt coming back some of yall wouldnt even be watching right now. I bet CM Punk has a huge amount of say in where this storyline goes and if you guys don't think his ideas are interesting IDK what is then.

On top of that Kingston Bourne are new tag champs, Natalya/Beth are actually in a storyline, Zack Ryder gets TV time. etc.

Del Rio beats Punk, Rey Mysterio, Daniel Bryan twice, and John Morrison but he is a weak champion? On top of that whooping Cena's *** last night.
Cena will not beat Del Rio at N.O.C. so you guys don't have to get upset about another Cena title reign just yet.

I'm just upset about Cena's illogical ramblings about how he's a weak champion. I do like the post match attacks, though.

Kinda reminds me of a modern-day Eddie Guerrero (sp) entrance. Although his lowriders were sweet!

Re: Raw 08/22/11... But you already know that!

First off I would like to say that the Miz is my favorite wrestler and I would love him to be always be in the main-event.

People complain wayyyy too much! Do people forget that WWE is supposed to be about entertainment (even before the E). You can keep your Hart Dynastys, your Usos, your Nexus/Corre rejects, your [insert bland, robotic tag team here]... The Miz and R-Truth are flat out entertaining on the mic, while the Megaflyers (lol) are exciting in the ring (no matter how much I can't stand their characters)!

Getting people in the tag division that fans actually want to see and pop for is a good thing.

Bringing any attention and interest to a dying division is a good thing.

Getting high-profile wrestlers TV time and something to do when not in the title picture is a good thing.

The Miz and Truth's promo was a VERY good thing (as would be having them on my TV twice a week instead of once).

So, where's bad? I guess we could have extended the Usos vs. Dave/Mike feud that has been captivating audiences around the globe, because those are REAL old-school, wrasslin' tag teams.

By the way, if Miz and Truth become an official tag team and keep up the good work (balancing comedy and seriousness in their promos, playing off one-another and the crowd, etc.) they could very well supplant Miz/Morrison and Edge/Christian as one of my favorites ever. The potential is there. And as much as I love Miz and want to see him win the big one again, I hope they don't rush him back into the ME scene because working a program with Truth in the tag division could be absolute gold!

I love Miz/R-Truth as a tag team. I hope they stick together and get a run with the titles. I'm probably in a huge minority though because I'm not a huge tag team fan and enjoy when 2 singles guys that I like form a team.

Re: Raw 08/22/11... But you already know that!

I've only started watching RAW again since the Punk buzz started... but this has to be the best Raw I've seen in a long, long time.

Now, no Raw is free from Raw's primary drawbacks, but there was a lot to like here.

Cena & Punk are amazing together. In the ring, on the mics, they're just golden. I love Cena's disposition toward his haters. I love Punk's ability to blend kayfabe and shoot material into a coherant message. Makes it all very immersive and allows me to sit back, suspend my disbelieve, and enjoy wrestling as a "sport".

The Miz and Truth blew my mind. The problem with that was that it really clearly illustrated everything that ADR is missing. He is utterly incapable of producing that kind of heat. Just amazing stuff from them two.

There's a lot to like about the WWE right now, and with RoH debuting on television soon, I'm feeling good about the future of pro wrestling for the first time since the '90s.

PS: The Jack Tunney reference was money.
There are two types of people on OS: Those who disagree with me, and those who agree.

The first kind is wrong. The second is superfluous.

You do realize KoW and Beer Money were pretty much put together like that too right? They've both been teams for a long time at this point but neither of them started as teams. I don't much like it either but at this point it's the best we can hope for really.

On a side note I'd like to see Otunga become a manager. He's just barely better than Orton in the ring (though he has come a long way) but he's great on the mic and it's belieable for him to interfere and actually do damage. Might be able to revive that too.

Well, RoH was on HDNet for two years but hopefully the new deal gives them more exposure.

As for the Tunney reference, brilliant.

I know I havent seen Orton wrestle in a long time but what a FLAME on Orton man.

From what Ive seen of Otunga.....damn.

Didn't Orton put on a classic with Christian at SS? When's the last time Otunga's done anything of note?

Yes Otunga is better in every way. Not much better. Like a 2.5 to 1.5 far as in ring goes.

Re: Raw 08/22/11... But you already know that!

Despite what I felt was a mixed bag for both the show and the storytelling overall...thinking about it for a bit, the thing I am enjoying most right now is that they are doing a better job of letting characters just be what they are and not molding it as much towards a rigidly defined crowd reaction.

Cena is Cena, Punk is Punk, HHH is HHH, etc. So far, there's not really a defined "good or bad/right or wrong" side in the main angle...it's all really a matter of the perspective of the different types of fans. It makes for a much better and more believable arc to the whole thing. That and the fact that they are finally letting the overarching story build more is definitely making things more interesting.

Also, while I don't necessarily think that Miz/Truth is the catalyst to rebuild the tag division or anything, I do think it's a great pairing and the idea of these two railing about conspiracies (one out of lunacy and one dragged into it by his ego) has a ton of potential and can not only work for tag team purposes but also further their individual characters as well.

To add to my thoughts about characters just being themselves...and trust me, I know I'm in the minority on this, but I actually liked John Cena's hypocritical and self-indulgent attitude about the title the last couple of weeks. Don't get me wrong, I was rolling my eyes with a "this ****in guy..." look on my face the whole time, but he's spouting the kind of stuff that kids (and a lot of their parents, I'm sure) like and the rest of us hate. It's works out exactly the way WWE needs it to right now IMO.
