    Being too critical

Does anyone else think that sometimes they get too critical of the product we see on tv? Stuff like thinking too far into things and trying to predict everything and anything that is happening/"should" be happening? I sometimes find myself doing this and have to remind myself to stop and just enjoy the show. I just think if we stop being as critical as we are and just watch the show for entertainment we might get a little more enjoyment out of it.

Also speaking of this, this is why we need GM mode back in the WWE games. Just sayin.

Thinking into things and trying to predict them is part of the fun. I suppose it can result in being critical when angles go wrong when we were all expecting something spectacular.

They seem to build up storylines then just sweep them under the rug....

Pretty sad when OS'ers come up with kick a$$ storylines, based solely on what they think should/could happen.....lol.

Yeah thats true, I guess I mean that sometimes I just think way too far into things and end up thinking the product "sucks" just because it didn't go the way I saw it and thinking that if they had the superstars from when I was younger they would somehow make it work. I get too caught up in "what if" and not "what is" and being an armchair gm.

I didn't wanna start a new topic for this and this is coming from left field but does anybody miss Kurt Angle?

and yes! this is exactly the reason why I hate doing it, because I start thinking wow that could have been done way better than it was and it just brings my mood down for the rest of the show. I just can't help thinking like that though. It's like a cinema expert watching a movie and picking out every little scene of why this and that was done instead of being able to just enjoy the movie itself (my teacher gave me this example) also im not saying im an expert (far from it), just saying that I sometimes pull the "armchair gm" card and always think like I know what im talking about lol.

Just like in the real WWE, Universe mode might not also do what you think makes sense. So what? Go with it. It's a game. There are programs out there that allow you to control every single detail I believe.

I laugh when guys talk about the TV ratings or the sales figures of the business. Really? Bunch of CEOs on the forums.

Everything else is fair game. Guys talking about storylines and story progress/regress is great. Reminiscing about the past, being critical of the direction the overall story and product is going is all part of being a fan.

              TV ratings are not.

Why are ratings not fair game to you? I find it pretty interesting seeing how ratings fluctuate and why they do.

                  Touche.

I was just sayin though about the TV product that sometimes if we get too critical it might bring our enjoyment level down a little so if sometimes we just watched it without thinking something should be better, we might enjoy it a little more for that show. Thats all

Thats cool but when guys respond to Daniel Bryan winning the championship by worrying about how long he will hold it due to ratings... its a bit much.

Or guys worrying that Cena will win the title again because the ratings have dipped. Its just a little pet peeve of mine I guess.

Then dudes go on about the sales for Pay Per Views, like it should matter to them at all. We are not a part of the WWE organization, and I think the lines are blurred too often the way some guys post.

But in the end I dont really care all that much. Im a casual wrestling fan. Maybe I just have a whole different perspective about wrestling.

O I getcha. I thought you were just talking about anybody asking about ratings and what not. I agree with what you're saying.

Because those numbers do matter. Let's say a group of us here enjoy a feud, but if the ratings drop every single week during that segment, they are going to kill it, rush through it so it's done, or change it. PPV buys nearly killed Survivor Series, but with the new network, hopefully the big 4 will never be touched again (should be the big 5 if not for King of the Ring, but in today's WWE, the tournament would get old fast if it was done yearly). I don't care about them that much, but I can see why people would care.

Exactly. I'm not sure how "business" things AREN'T relevant to the viewers. Viewers like us drive the "business" side of things.

It could be a case of "out of sight out of mind"...I know for myself, I didnt even know about ratings until a few years ago. But for people that DO know about them then this is correct IMO, ratings do matter because at the end of the day that is something that the WWE looks at for their programming

I dont lose sleep at night if the WWE is down 2 million dollars after survivor series or if Daniel Bryan merchandise is not selling.

Ill watch my show, form opinons about the story, what wrestlers are getting love and which are getting buried, impending failures of storylines, great returnss etc. I wont worry about how much they made from my view. Thats just me.

Im not condemning those that do. I just notice the ones that do are the too critical guys. They are far more deep in the brand than necessary.
